Hellooo. This is a little one-shot that I wrote a while a back to escape boredom at school. I found it, tweaked it a bit, and turned it into this. So please review and I do hope you enjoy (:
I don't own Harry Potter, blah, blah, blah.
From the moment James Potter set eyes on Lily Evans, he knew that one day, she would be the girl he'd marry.
It was no secret that Lily hated James with a burning passion, but her fiery red hair, and emerald greens eyes only continued to taunt him throughout the day.
"If only she didn't hang around with the Snape kid so much…" James would constantly say.
"Yes, yes, we know, James. You like Lily. Now can we get back to this chess game please? I'm a move away from winning." Sirius Black sighed, after the hundredth time of hearing his friend mope.
"I don't just like her, I love her. I'm going to marry her some day." James claimed.
Remus Lupin snorted from his armchair. "Yeah, that'll be the day." He chuckled. James could only glare as a response, because deep down, he knew Remus was right. That wasn't to stop him from at least trying to get a date from the red head. And try he did.
"Hey, Evans! will you go out with me?" He would ask.
"When hell freezes over, Potter." She would reply.
"Come on!"
"No, now go away. I'm trying to finish my homework."
"Can't I at least just carry your books for you tomorrow morning?"
"I'm perfectly capable of carrying them myself, thanks."
"Just give me a chance, Evans. Come on."
"Potter! Go away!"
And so it went on, and on, until Lily stormed out of the common room with a dangerous look masking her face, and James returned to his friends in defeat.
The other Gryffindors were used to the two bickering every night now, and merely rolled their eyes whenever James was seen making his way towards Lily.
"Why doesn't he just give up already?" Was the question running through everyone's minds.
Whenever this question was voiced, however, James' answer was always the same, "I'm going to marry her someday."
The Christmas holidays started, and the students bustled off the Hogwarts Express, eager to see their parents and go home for a couple of weeks.
James, freshly stung from another rejection from Lily, moved quietly with the crowd, grabbed his trunk and made to find his parents.
Spotting them over by the platform entrance, he jogged happily over them, all thoughts of the previous rejection leaving his mind.
As he hugged his dad hello, he spotted the familiar red haired girl saying hello to her parents a few meters away. The emerald green eyes of Lily Evans caught his for a moment, and she glared at him and turned away.
James smirked.
"Hey dad, see that girl over there?" He said, pointing to where Lily was standing, "I'm going to marry her someday."
His dad chuckled, "Oh really now?" He said, putting a hand on his sons shoulder and leading him off the platform.
"I will. I will marry her." James muttered determinedly.
Seven years later, he did.
