A yearning prayer in the dead of night,

The way the whole family tries to pick a fight-

A promise made to innocent kids one day

That together they would "Always stay!"

A cigarette taken from a pack already paid,

A promise shattered like it was never made;

The feeling of malcontent that spreads throughout,

A family that always shouts.

Threatening words spoken out of turn-

The perfect picture continues to burn.

The piercing cries of a child lost,

Apparently this is the ultimate cost.

No longer what was once a pillar of hope,

Now only broken promises that go up in smoke.

AN: This is going to be my last post, to any of my stories. I'm sorry if any of you were following my work or had liked it at one time, but I don't think I can write this kind of stuff anymore. To be honest, I haven't written this stuff in a long time. This AN is probably long overdue. It was a part of my life at one time, but now it is not. I'm sorry for my lies and I hoped you liked this one last original poem. Review if you want to. Goodbye.
