So while taking a break from editing a chapter for another story, I tossed out this little dribble. Don't really know where it's going, if it could even go anywhere. With the new season ready to start up in a few days this was just a random idea that strolled through my head. The idea being, what if there had been someone else seeking Crowley out, but for reasons different from those of Abaddon.
People can tend to get Hell wrong, none really knowing exactly why or how the place existed in the first place. There was one thing everyone always got right though, doesn't matter who they are or where they're from. Purpose. The purpose of Hell was to punish. Hell cropped up when the first humans started withering away from God. From the depths he crushed Hell into existence and all those that turned from Him were cast down into it. There they spent eternity paying for their sins; a constant reminder that they'd been pulled from His sight and that they no longer mattered to Him.
At least…that had been the purpose of Hell. The only purpose intended.
But then things began to change. Thoughts occurred. Feelings rose. Words were spoken.
And so Lucifer turned to Hell, to the souls of the damned. Of those that God had held above all. He tormented them and swayed those still alive to sin, keeping their souls from ever reaching Heaven. He saw to the creation of the first demon, the beginnings of an army. It all accumulated in civil war. Angels against humans. Demons against angels. Angels against their Father.
And so Lucifer became the Fallen One, locked away in his cage. But so little good it did for then the demons looked upon him as their savior against the other angels. They plotted their plans to release him.
It hadn't mattered that the Fallen One was confined, Hell was now something much darker and where Lucifer fell, another rose to take control of the situation. To bastardize the purpose behind Hell, using it as a breeding ground for damned souls turned demon. They were released upon the world to tempt and defile Man. To mock God to His very face by destroying that which He loved most.
As Lucifer had risen as a leader in Hell, others did as well. Whether it was passed down or taken, the management did not remain constant. More so, it did not remain true to its original purpose.
But there was one who, while never diminishing the torment of Hell, took a different approach. That approach did not go unnoticed.
And when this self-proclaimed King of Hell called out for help, the Keeper of Hell listened.
So that's it. Just a little bit that passed through my head. If enough people are interested, I'll consider turning it from a one-shot to a full length story at some point.
