The Freezing Burn
by
Dark Amaya
Don't be stupid Bella.
His voice taunted me as I stood standing not from a cliff this time but a roof. Granted a cliff would cause an instant death. But the roof of Forks Highschool's Gym was high enough, maybe it would put me into an instant coma. Anything would be better than living without him. Soon it grew dark around me, my fellow student and faculty of Forks high looked up with sheer anguish on their face. I could pick out Angela Webber, and Mike Newton, Mr. Greene, and Mr. Varner; I had always hated that man so I could not understand the look of grief upon his face.
Bella don't do this, the angel spoke again. Oh his voice was such a blessing.
"I don't think you have the right," I stated with a slight smile, "to warn me about hurting myself." My voice was snide and licked with pure ignorance. Oh I wanted to make him angry, the more he was angry the more his voice appeared. I looked down at my feet, my ragged shoes had been tossed aside and my toes curled up along the edge or the ledge.
Look around you silly girl! I'm not the only one who cares! The Angel roared.
I reluctantly looked down, a few new faces appeared, Embry, Quil, Sam and his imprinted fiancée Emily. My eyes widened lightly, Embry, Quil, what the hell are you doing here? Sam? Even from here I could see the crude scars on Emily's beautiful face. Maybe I would gain such marks. "Go away Sam," I whispered this, knowing that Sam would be able to hear me.
"Bella! I'm coming!" his voice was softer and overpowered by a huskier almost more familiar voice.
I spun my head around to see, I saw him. Jacob. Why did he have to be here? " Jacob," tears formed in my eyes, "Jacob go aw—," the ledge gave way.
The first thing I heard was Angela's scream, then a chorus of gasps and three distinct growls, "Bella!" I heard Jacob loudly and everything seemed to melt away, I was screaming but no sound emitted from my mouth. I just heard Jacob shout my name over and over again. Then.
It all stopped.
wwwwwwwwww
I gasped up in the middle of a cold sweat, screaming. For the fifth time this week. I let out a yelp, before muffling the horrid sounds. But I had been too late, with in seconds my door opened and Charlie walked into my room sitting lightly next to me on my quilt covered bed. My trembling form shook the bed violently, so violently that it began to creak.
"Bella, Bella," Charlie's voice was akward. This definitely was not what he signed up for when he agreed to take me in last year. The only thing that Terrified Chief Swan more than tears was screams, "Bella sweetie, it's okay it was just a nightmare." He took a bold move and touched my back and I cringed under his touch. I yearned for either fire or ice. Anything in between seemed so wrong. Felt so wrong. Was plain wrong to my body.
It took a couple minutes but my body finally stopped convulsing and my breathing became regulated. My screams stopped, along with the extreme tears. I looked up at Charlie, my eyes swollen and red I began to apologize and he shook his head and kissed my forehead, giving me an akward hug. " It's going to be okay Bells, I promise you that."
"How can you," I managed to stifle out. Sharply. In a bare whisper that I knew he couldn't hear it. Despite my hushed words, I buried my face into Charlie's night flannels. I took a huff of his musky smell, it was so familiar and yet it felt so damn distant. It wasn't only Charlie, everything felt so damn distant. Everything was like treading in lukewarm water, and I hated every minute of it. The only things that I wanted, since as he once explained to me that neither were human, were Jacob and Edward.
No. I needed Edward...
But Jacob, he was the one I wanted. I began to blubber my best friend's name, and Charlie's strong arm tightened around me. Probably out of joy that I was saying Jacob's name and not my beloved's.
"Do you want to see Jacob," he asked though he knew my answer. He paused slightly, " Today there is a big game, I'll go call Billy." He kissed my forehead and stood walking away.
I rolled back under my covers before the door even closed, I had only a couple hours before we would be heading to La Push and I wanted every second of rest before I saw him. I closed my eyes and let myself fall under once again.
A/N: This was the first chapter, I'm sorry that it is short. The next chapter will be longer, I promise. Ya'll know the deal, Read and Review. If you have any personal notes you can leave notes on my page.
