Almost every girl thinks about their wedding day. Jackie was certainly one of those girls. Since she was eight years old, she had a dream of getting married on a summer day in Nantucket, overlooking the water. She wanted her dress to be the most exquisite dress anybody had ever seen. She wanted white roses surrounding the place. She wanted everybody she knew to be there.
Instead, she was in the opposite of Nantucket. Here she was in St. Barbara's Church, right in Point Place. Her dress was beautiful, but it was too puffy and too itchy. White roses weren't surrounding the church. She didn't have a crazy guest list like she thought she would. But as she walked down the aisle, she stopped thinking of all that. She didn't care anymore. The one thing on her mind was how happy she was, and how happy she'd be for the rest of her life.
Sure, it would have been nice to have a Nantucket wedding with white roses, but at this moment, she knew what mattered most - the man she wanted to spend her entire life with. Nothing else mattered but him. She glanced over to Donna, her maid-of-honor, her best friend. "You look stunning." Donna mouthed to her. Jackie smiled, and she turned to face her husband-to-be.
"This is it." He whispered.
"And I couldn't be happier." She whispered back, a grin spreading across her face.
The priest began to speak, and his words went on. She looked back at everybody in the church. It was a slightly small wedding and she liked that. As long as she had him, it didn't matter how big or small the wedding was.
Finally, they said their vows and exchanged rings. The priest smiled and Jackie could feel everyone else smiling, too. "I now pronounce Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Jackie moved forward to kiss her husband and she knew that it was the happiest moment of her life. "I love you." Michael said to her when they broke away from the kiss. "Ditto." She said, smiling. She didn't need that fantasy wedding - this was better than anything.
