Maris huffed as she trampled over another root that aimed to trip her up, almost anything and everything in the deep woods aimed to trip her up and aimed to hurt twenty two year old was starting to rethink her choice of tracking through the Deep Woods to find her son. " It's all you have left." She thought as she refocused to keep sight on the spindlebug that was ahead of her." Quint wont be back, and if she could find the baby, then everything would be alright." The sword banged against her hip as she briefly leaned against a tree.
" Maris would you like to stop for the night?" Tweezel asked as he caught wind of her taking deep breathes. She nodded happily as she watched him come back towards her. This time, the camp would be set up in a flat clearing with a canopy of trees covering them. As she slumped down, she thought to herself, " Could I do this?" She thought as she watched Tweezel pried down pieces of woods. Maris thought to herself about the little time that she would spend at the Boom Docks with Quint. They would watch the works scurry around the ships, watching them fix a number of bad things with different ships. Once, she had asked him why sky pirates and leagues men walked funny.
He looked at her confused, before she pointed out the fact that young sky pirates and older leagues men walked with their shoulders pinned back, their guts sucked in, and a grim look set on their faces. Laughingly, he told her that they walked like that because it showed power. The position made you look bigger than you really were, and if you were the biggest one, someone wouldn't want to hurt the time, she laughed it off as They began to walk again.
Now, Power is what she needed. She couldn't be pushed around in here, because if she was pushed around, she wouldn't survive. Maris got to her feet and brushed herself off, " Maris, Could you collect some woodsaps for tonight?" Tweezel asked as he arranged the camp to make it a bit more homely.
She nodded and turned, heading off into the woods. Maris chewed on the ends of her hair as she thought to herself, She would mimic those sky pirates and leagues men to show that she was bigger than what was out there. Maris puffed out her chest and pinned back her shoulders as she wandered, looking for woodsaps. Soon enough, she found a ripe gathering of woodsaps hanging low. She started to pluck the fruit with a grin, before she heard a noise behind her. Spinning on her heel, she scanned the area behind her, before a small figure came out from the shadows.
It was a small slaughter, who looked thin. The little thing came towards her as she kneeled down to it's level. " Could you help me? " It asked her quietly. She smiled and nodded, holding out her hand to it. They made their way happily back to their camp. Tweezel was surprisingly accepting of the child, and the child stayed by her side most of the time. She pulled off her cloak and wrapped it around the little one. Maris couldn't help but smile when the slaughter fell asleep comfortably against her. She thought of something important as she brushed fingers through it's hair," I think I found something worth it tonight."
