The Goonies were saved; the neighborhood was there to stay. However, Mouth had some unfinished business to take care of and it involved Stef. Before, when she had hugged him, he had known he should've told her then. He almost did.

She had said, "Wow, we're having such a moment. You're voice isn't that bad when your mouth isn't screwing it up."

He put a hand on her shoulder and responded, "Yeah, well thanks. You know, you're looks are kind of pretty when your face isn't screwing it up."

Then he had hugged her. Why only a hug? Stupid, stupid Mouth. But now he was going to make it right. She and Andy were walking back up towards their houses, when Mouth caught up to them. Andy noticed him coming and went off to find Brandon.

"What do you want, Mouth," Stef said jokingly.

"I know I said that you're only pretty when your face isn't screwing it up."

Stef asked, "Did you come here to make fun of me?"

"No, no." Stupid Mouth. "I came here to say, your face doesn't screw anything up. You're beautiful and funny and nice and adventurous and really awesome. And I like you a lot."

Stef looked shocked. Then she took off her glasses and looked at him. Suddenly, without any thought to how it happened, Mouth was kissing her, like he should have before. Right then he knew: his mouth wasn't screwing anything up.
