I don't own Walking Dead.
I haven't written fics in a loooong time, but I watched The Walking Dead Sunday night and had this percolating for a few days. It's sorta a mash between the comic book and the TV series and is set about seven years after the group finds the prison.
Home Sick
I have never been outside of the house.
I have never gone beyond the endless blanket covered walls that surround the house.
I have never seen what makes the moaning beyond the walls, or why the walls sometimes shake.
I get scared when the walls shake. But if I'm outside playing with Kimmy and Carl and the animals, Carl ushers us back inside the house and towards the bedrooms.
I went, once, when I was five, to see if I could look beyond the walls, but Daryl shoos me away. Daryl is always nice. When Papa went beyond the walls, Daryl watched him, to keep him safe from the walkers.
When papa came back the next day, I asked him what a walker was, he just shook his head and took my hand, leading me back inside the house. Daryl never spoke about walkers again.
Kimmy told me once what a walker was, that it was a sick person who would hurt us. If their sick, then shouldn't we let them in and help them? Maybe then they wouldn't hurt us?
Carl told me to never say that, that we couldn't help them, that they would just hurt us.
Grandpa Hershel just tells me that god has a plan for all, even for us, but that we have to figure it out.
So...
I have a plan.
I'm going out of the house; beyond the blanket covered walls when Daryl is leaving his post tonight and Axel is taking his place. Now, if I can just distract Aunt Carol.
Thoughts? suggestions?
Thanks!
