Minnie sighed and put her hands on her hips. She pulled back her chair and looked at her husband. After a few moments of silence she stated, "There was once a time you would have done that for me."

They were having dinner together for the first time in months, Mickey dressed in his usual and Minnie in a long white dress. Around her neck that looked like it had been through the mill.

King Mickey's head rose slowly from his blueprints and his tired eyes tried to stay focused on Minnie's. "There was once a time when there was peace."

Their eyes met again while their food was piled up on the table. When the last servant had shut the door quietly behind them, Minnie gently pulled the blueprints away from Mickey's grasp. He half followed it, like a child reaching for chocolate. When his hands fell limp to his sides she took them in her own.

"Why," she asked, "why do you care so much about him?" Minnie's gaze was unwavering and she felt so low. She couldn't even remember the last time she laughed.

Mickey wordlessly poured them both some Vodka and raised his glass slightly. "To peace," he whispered, "It's my kingdom and I must protect it."

Minnie clunked her glass against his and hissed, "To times gone by." She sat in her place opposite him and pursed her lips. She had grown thin with worry of the castle and him.

He saw her face and tried to explain himself. "Sora's only a child, he's needs to be protected, and it's not fair that he has to carry the burden of being the keyblade bearer by himself." His hand was stirring his tea. The silence that fell drew both their eyes into the movement.

"How would you know." Minnie spoke in a small voice.

"Pardon?"

She stood up and shouted in a strangled voice, "How would you know what a child needs? Is that it then, I can't have children so you abandon me!" She ripped the necklace from her throat and spilt the beads around the table. "I'm leaving!"

The King moved at an impossible speed to hold her. They collapsed to the floor, Minnie sobbing heartbrokenly into Mickey's shoulder. Her white dress became ripped and dirty rubbing against the cold stone floor. Mickey was humming magical songs into her ear, and her breathing returned to normal, her eyes only slightly red.

"You gave me that necklace on our first date. I want it back," Mickey paused, unsure whether she was talking about the necklace or the first date. Such sweet, happy times, thought Mickey bitterly.

"I know you can't reverse time said Minnie quietly. To her they represented their love, every last one needed to back with her or it would be broken.

Having had his silent question answered, Mickey picked up all of the plastic red beads and strung them onto Minnie's neck. He moved to put on some music and asked Minnie, "May I have the dance?"

mayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayImayI

A single plastic red bead rolled across the floor, falling into a hole in the floor and lost for ever.

I don't usually write stuff this angst, so I hope you liked it.
