Reaping Day. The words shot into my head as soon as I awoke. I hated this day. More than I hated the capitol and its freaks, more than I hated peacekeeper Crowe's dirty ways and more than I hated the president. Well, maybe not, after all if it wasn't for President Snw these Games wouldn't take place every year. Imagine that. A world where everyone is equal, a world where we don't have to watch our neighbours, our friends, our children die, if not in the Games the from starvation.

I sighed. As much as I think it could happen, there's no point wasting my time imagining these things, better to use it planning the events that will make these things happen. But not today. Today, all my energy was focused on praying for safety. That neither me nor my family would be picked. Nor Katniss.

Katniss!

I was supposed to meet her in our spot in the woods. See! That is what daydreams do to you! I cursed myself silently as quickly pulled on my boots, I couldn't be late for her, not today of all day, not today when she needed my support most. You see, Katniss is like me, putting her name in for tesserae so that Prim, her sister, doesn't have to, the same as I do so Rory never has to, and when she's old enough, Posy. Although, hopefully, by the time Posy is at reaping age things will have changed….for the better.
