A/N: Still avoiding the other fanfic... Anyways, the person that Zexion's talking to in the beginning never gets named, so she can be whoever you want her to.
"Do you love me?" The question was so simple and yet even as the words played in his head, Zexion couldn't bring himself to answer, choosing, instead, to look out the window. "You don't…do you?" A rueful smile crossed Zexion's lips as he stood, clutching a cup of hot chocolate in one hand.
"No, I don't love you. You know that by now. You know that I can't love, can't feel and yet you constantly ask the same question." he snapped. Tears streamed freely down the other's face.
"Not true…" she whispered. "You love him…" Zexion stopped walking, tossing a glare over his shoulder.
"No, I don't." he snapped before softening his gaze. "But if I could…"
"Why?" Zexion paused before answering.
"He'll never change," he stated, slowly. "He makes me believe that I can still feel, even without a heart," he added.
"How much?" Zexion stared with his one visible eye before allowing a small smile to grace his lips.
"More than Kingdom Hearts itself. I'd die for him." As quickly as the wind blows Zexion's mood changed and the smile fell. "If you tell anyone else I will kill you. Slowly." The girl stood, wiping her tears. Smiling, she opened a portal and faded into darkness.
"Hey!" The call shook Zexion back to reality and he set his mask back into place as Demyx ran up to greet him. "Hey man, answer when I talk to you." He grinned. Zexion just looked at him with cool indifference.
"Demyx, you were shouting halfway across the courtyard, how am I to know when one of your bellows is directed at me?"
"Oh, hey, is that hot chocolate? Aw man! Didn't you get me any?" Demyx continued, ignoring Zexion's response. Letting loose a sigh that bespoke of much suffering, Zexion rolled his eyes.
"Demyx, it's for you, moron; you know I don't drink this stuff." Demyx's eyes lit up as he took the cup from Zexion's hand.
"Aw, thanks man, I really needed this." I know… Zexion mentally sighed, yet he shrugged, keeping up his cool façade…or so he thought. "Hey, Zexion…" Demyx questioned. Zexion slowed his pace to a stop, glancing back at the fidgeting sitarist. "How come…Aw hell, this is more difficult than I thought." he sighed, running a hand through blonde hair. Zexion raised an eyebrow.
"What, Demyx?"
"How come you're nicer to me than everyone else?" SHIT! His mind screamed. You screwed everything up, including your friendship, for what? A cup of hot chocolate?
"I don't know what you're talking about." he covered, clearing his throat while resuming his stride.
"Do you love me?" HOLYSHITWHEREDIDTHATCOMEFROM?! Zexion stopped walking again.
"What?" Demyx smiled, a light twinkling mischievously in his eyes making Zexion wary.
"Do you love me?" Zexion scoffed.
"We're nobodies, Demyx. We don't feel." he answered, trying to evade the question, but with no such luck.
"If you could?" Damn, Fate is cruel today.
"If I could? …Yes, I think I'd love you." he admitted softly. Lifting his gaze from the suddenly intriguing floor, Zexion saw Demyx crying. Rushing to his melodious love he softly asked, "You dolt, why are you crying?" Demyx sniffed, an awful sound – but Zexion loved him anyways – before replying.
"I'm happy." he whispered. Zexion's hand stilled from drying tears, but only for a moment before smiling and enveloping the taller boy in a hug. "I'm happy that you feel the way you do because I thought I was screwed."
"Why would you be screwed?" Zexion asked before wincing. "There's a perverted joke in there, somewhere." Demyx smiled.
"I thought you wouldn't feel the same way." Zexion grinned wickedly.
"That's why, thankfully, no one counts on you to think." Demyx smacked his arm playfully.
"Screw you," he replied. A glint flashed across Zexion's visible eye.
"Promise?"
