Rose and the Doctor had been vacationing on some oasis outside of the Milky Way, when Rose tried-and failed-to convince the time-traveler to put on some sunscreen before he 'roasted like a lobster under the hot sun'.
"Rose, I don't need sunscreen! My cells aren't affected by UV radiation the way yours are. It's just my biology" Rose thought differently.
"You're not invincible you know. Just put a little on your shoulders and your face alright?" The Doctor continued to ignore her advice, and began arranging the sand on the ground into a foundation for a castle he had been planning on constructing.
"I'm from a planet with two suns, Rose. I think I can handle this one." Rose sighed and applied the liquid protection to her own hands, arms, and face.
"Whatever, Mr. Fancy Time Lord, at least help me get my back." The Doctor was only too eager to comply.
After the day's activities, which included running, building sandcastles, and an abundant amount of flirting, Rose grabbed her towel and suggested they head back to the TARDIS.
"Aw, but Rose! We've only been out here for a couple hours." Rose placed her hands firmly on her hips, a sign that the Doctor immediately recognized as his downfall.
"It's been exactly five hours and forty-three minutes doctor, and you sir, are a bright red." she stated while waving her finger in his general direction. Confused, the Doctor looked down at his arms and chest. Sure enough, bright red splotchy patches were spread sporadically across his skin.
"What? No way! That's impossible… I don't…" he winced as he tried to press on different parts of his shoulders. Sighing, Rose decided to take pity on him and stepped closer to have a look of her own.
"Maybe the TARDIS has some aloe lotion in the infirmary?" Doctor shrugged, winced, and nodded instead.
"Yeah, she should. Will that help?" Rose laughed.
"Blimey, you've never had a sunburn before?" he shook his head. "Well get ready, you're about to find out why you should definitely wear sunscreen at all times- I don't care how superior you think your biology is"
"I told you this would happen, ya know." Rose giggled as the Doctor stood uncomfortably in the middle of the TARDIS medical bay while Rose gently and carefully applied the aloe to his burns. As she ignored the Doctor's grumbles, Rose appreciated the view of the shirtless Time Lord that she got to enjoy close-up.
"Next time you'll listen to me, won't you?"
"Yes Rose, I apologize. I should have taken your advice- how long am I going be like this?" Rose hummed as she finished her work and wiped her hands on her towel.
"I got a wicked sunburn one time from playing ball for too long and I had it bad for a couple of days." the Doctor smiled.
"Okay, well, It should take me a couple hours or so then" Rose grinned her tongue-in-teeth smile of hers.
"You so sure about that Doctor? You weren't exactly right about your 'superior cells' the last time, now were you?"
"Oh ha,ha,ha silly girl. Yes, I'm sure this time. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to sit down-carefully, and maybe enjoy a cuppa and a film?" Rose grinned-more sincere than teasing this time-and nodded.
"Sure thing, sounds like a great idea. Let me go change first and then we'll get you settled in the cinema room. You might just want to stay in your trunks for now." The Dcotor nodded and Rose walked out.
"Good plan, brilliant. Too much hassle, wouldn't want to hurt myself… again."
The sound of Rose's laughter followed him down the hall as he carefully made his way to the cinema on-board his precious ship. "Oh, she's never gonna let me live this down…"
"Got that right!"
