When Makoto sits him down, he doesn't expect much at first. "Nagisa," he then says in this indulgent kind of voice.

"Do you like Kou-chan?"

He pauses for just a second too long, his answer comes a little too fast - for a question that's just come rather out of the blue, "-What? Of course not, silly!"

Makoto lets out a sigh of long-suffering, his eyes glint with understanding and a calm patience as he says rather bluntly, "What next? Pulling her pigtails?"

For a moment, he's side-tracked, "-but she doesn't wear pigtails…?" And then he pouts, caught.

That tiny momentous glimmer of considering would have only been apparent to someone who had known him a long time, such as Makoto. And so he had, and now his disapproving look comes out in full force. Nagisa resists the urge to gulp and fidget too.

Makoto waves him off with a wary murmur, "….just don't throw her books in the mud or anything."
