Disclaimer: I don't own, 'kay?

Warnings: Kiba is very OOC, there might be language (I don't even check anymore), and there's boy / boy love. Don't like, don't read. THIS IS AU.

"Speaking in French"

Bon Anniversaire, Mon Coeur.

"Hey, Shikamaru."

Kiba sat down next to where his boyfriend was lying down with a short greeting.

The lazy teen only grunted in response, thinking that this boy was just too troublesome.

"Guess what day it is?" Kiba continued, not letting his spirited get dampened by his friend's lack of enthusiasm.

Shikamaru looked over to the dog lover and rolled his eyes.

"Saturday?" He said sarcastically, turning his focus back to the clouds. This caused Kiba to pout sadly.

"Shika-chan," he began in a whiny voice. "How ever could you forget my birthday?"

The bored teen sighed. "I haven't forgotten your birthday. I just figured that you would much rather be throwing an extravagant gala like you do every year."

"Shikamaru," Kiba said in a sharp tone. "I would never have a party without inviting you. You know that!"

"Well, why aren't you having a party this year?" Shikamaru asked, genuinely interested.

Kiba hugged his knees and frowned. Gritting his teeth, he replied, "My mom said I couldn't have one since I failed French."

Shikamaru chuckled, and closed his eyes.

"I honestly do not understand how you failed French class. It was the easiest class we had."

Mumbling something about stupid geniuses, Kiba laid down next to the cloud-gazer, looking towards the sky. The two sat in comfortable silence for awhile, watching the clouds go by, each occupied by their own thoughts.

"Hey, Shika," Kiba started after awhile, in a distant voice. "Why do you like laying here and watching the clouds so much?"

Shikamaru smiled softy. "The clouds are the only thing in life that are not troublesome."

Kiba pondered this for a moment before asking another question.

"Am I troublesome?"

Shikamaru laughed uncharacteristically loud. "Of course you are. You're one of the most troublesome people I know." Seeing the hurt look on his friend's face, he continued, "You're also my favorite of all the troublesome people I know."

Kiba smiled, and rolled over so that he was on top of Shikamaru.

"Did I ever tell ya that I love ya?" He asked, grinning. Apparently, the smile was contagious, and within seconds, Shikamaru was smiling, too. Lifting his head up, he brought their lips together in a searing kiss.

"Bon anniversaire, mon coeur," the lazy genius whispered against his boyfriend's lips.

Pulling away, Kiba gave Shikamaru a puzzled look. The latter sighed.

"Now I see why you failed French so badly."

Kiba pouted, and Shikamaru grabbed his boyfriend's bottom lip between his teeth and nibbled softy. The dog lover quickly gave in, and kissed back slightly.

"Well, at least I know how to say one thing," he said withdrawing from the kiss for a moment.

"What's that?"

"Je t'aime."

Shikamaru smiled. "Très bon."

The puzzled look appeared once again on Kiba's face. "Huh?"

The genius sighed.

"Forget it," he said, pulling the birthday boy back towards him for another kiss.

The next day...

"God damn it, Shikamaru! My ass hurts like Hell!"

"As I said before, bon anniversaire, mon coeur."

("Bon anniversaire, mon coeur" means literally "Happy birthday, my heart".)

Well, fuck.

This is like, an entire five days late. His birthday was on the 7th, but I got his mixed up with Genma's for some reason, and thought it was on the 17th. Plus, I wrote this in like two seconds. I didn't even proof read it or anything. I'm a really bad person, aren't I?

I'm sorry. :(

Review anyway?
