A/N: Just a short snippet that I wrote at one in the morning…I figured it was high-time I finally uploaded something to .

Disclaimer: I do not own Neverwinter Nights 2.

Sweat made her brown hair cling to her forehead as the Knight Captain of Crossroad Keep danced backwards, out of the reach of Neeshka's daggers. Today's training—and every other training session she'd had with the teifling—was strenuous.

"Neeshka…" the young ranger panted as she lost more ground to Neeshka's wild attacks. "Let's call it quits for today. I'm tired and starved."

"But Dawn," the teifling began as she forced the Knight Captain to parry again. "If we stop every time you get tired, we'll never get anywhere."

Perhaps that was the case, but Dawn's skills lay in her archery, not with swordplay. However, after almost being beheaded by one of the Gith that had made it past her companions, she decided that it would probably be wise to work on her melee fighting. Still, she felt that she was good enough to avoid another of those situations again. Besides, what had started out as a small group had grown significantly since they'd first arrived in Neverwinter.

"Agh. Fine, but can we at least take a break first?"

"Nope!" Neeshka said in a cheery voice, before lunging towards Dawn again.

The ranger was once again forced backwards—almost into one of her own soldiers. The Greycloaks had taken to watching them spar, and would crowd around—the less respectable among them betting as to if their Knight Captain would finally manage to beat the rogue.

Dawn threw herself toward the teifling—she knew that Neeshka wouldn't be able to block her blow, since her twin bastard swords would easily overpower the rogue's daggers. Neeshka sidestepped, though, and instead of having to pull her blow as she had expected, the Knight Captain ended up lying in the dirt with the cold steel of a knife at the back of her neck.

"You did it again! You put all of your weight into a single strike! If you do that, it just opens you up to counterattack!" Neeshka exclaimed, pulling her dagger away from Dawn's neck.

"Ugh." The ranger groaned as she pushed herself back up again. "It's not like I'm going to be facing a Githyanki swordsmaster or anything…again."

"You never know!"

"Actually, yes, I do know. The Gith said they gave up their search." Dawn said as she sheathed her bastard swords and hung them on the nearby weapons rack. "Time to go take a break in the Phoenix Tail—you won this match."

Neeshka sighed as she put away her own weapons—she had a feeling that they were going to carry on like this for a while.

A/N: I know, it's painfully short…but it was just an idea I had and felt like I had to get it down. I hope the description isn't too bad since I wrote it so late at night…but thanks for reading anyway!
