LOVE NOTE
She found the note on the fridge, and she immediately recognized Remus' handwriting.
I love you, it was written.
Moreover, I love you and I can't lose you.
And Nymphadora Tonks felt misty, at the start. It took a while to her to feel confused. Then shocked, horrified.
At the moment, she feels dead.
She slowly reads the note one more time, every syllable hurting like a blow.
I love you. I love you and I can't lose you.
A life without you wouldn't make any sense, after all I have gone through to have you back.
It's pointless to hide ourselves. Your denial it's pointless! You know, I tried.
But Dora doesn't deserve it, at all.
Sirius Black, I'm so much in love with you that if I don't scream it to the whole world, my heart will probably explode!
Just... think about it, I beg you.
I'll be waiting until the end of our days, if I have to.
Yours forever,
Remus.
"Cousin? What are you doing there, huddled up as a... oh. You found it."
Tonks is lying on the floor astonished, her mouth half-opened. Sirius bends over; he looks embarrassed.
"Tonks, I'm sorry," he starts. "I..."
"N-no, don't... don't explain," she interrupts him. " I can't stand... smutty details and stuff. I'm g-going home."
"Oh shit." he hisses. "Wait Tonks, there's no need to hurry conclusions..."
"Padfoot, I'm back. And I brought Molly's pudding, for your joy."
Remus' voice, Tonks thought. His nice, husky voice... And at the sound of that voice, Sirius petrifies.
"Merlin's bloody garter..." he whispers. "HELLO MOONY, MY OLD FRIEND! WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?"
"Raining, but... Dora, are you crying?!"
"N-no... I'm j-just... "
"... leaking out! She's just leaking out water, Moony."
"Black."
"Ok, she's crying. Just a bit, anyway. Girls' stuff, you know... hormones and on. Maybe she needs to be alone for a while, let's go having a Firewhiskey or two, I'm sure she'll be fine..."
"What the hell is that, Sirius?"
"That? Er... a bill?"
"You mean she's crying for a bill?"
"As a matter of fact, you did it once... Hey, you can't take it! What about if it's personal?"
"Black."
Remus looks at the yellow note for a long minute, then he questionably eyes Sirius. Love glances? Tonks isn't sure.
When her boyfriend - ex-boyfriend - speaks, his voice is hoarse, but calm.
"I thought I told you to vanish it."
Sirius eyes him back. "I know... but understand me Remus, I couldn't. Though, I'm sorry," he gabbles. "I didn't want her to find it. I just planned to make you think that she did."
Remus looks surprised. "That was for me?"
And suddenly, she understands.
She found the note on the fridge, and Grimmauld Place has everything but electricity...
At that point Tonks is curious, but not crying anymore. Neither is she leaking out water, if you wonder.
"Of course it was for you," Sirius smiles. "Happy April Fool's Day, sweetheart."
