This is a bit stupid I'm afraid, but I was so happy to finally have written something that I posted it. Tell me what you think guys!
"Holmes, that's not your coat!"
"Impressive deduction my dear Watson."
"Why are you wearing my coat? And what am I to wear while you're away?"
"Well, my coat, naturally."
"It would be great if you would at least bother to inform me…"
"-I just did!"
"…besides, you didn't answer my question, why my coat?"
"Because, Watson, I want to pass unnoticed, isn't it obvious?"
"Why not wear one of your less noticeable clothes then?"
"I have no such clothes!"
"Of coarse you do, besides, your coat isn't that eccentric either…"
"What is your point, Watson?"
"My point?! Holmes, if I hadn't known you better I would've thought you were shying away from an answer…"
"Well then I'm glad you do and I should really get going now, goodbye." With that he quickly picked up his suitcase and went to the door.
"Goodbye Holmes, and have a nice trip…and for god's sake be careful!" He didn't bother to answer that and instead closed the door rather vehemently behind him.
And so it wasn't until he came back that I managed to solve the mystery of the reticent detective. The morning after he arrived a letter on his desk caught my eye because it had my signature on it. I didn't remember signing it and so asked Holmes about it. He replied rather nervously that it was 'part of a disguise.'
"A disguise? You disguised yourself as me?! Why?"
"I didn't disguise myself as you, I had to disguise myself as a…kind, caring person, a good father for his two daughters and…and… I had no idea… how to be that so I copied your…your…I copied you."
"Well…I… Don't know what to say…"
I did. I wanted to tell him how much I was honored that he thought of me that way but decided against it. He wouldn't survive the sentiment.
