It was a nice sunny day in the pride lands as teen Simba was laying bored waiting for his friend Nala to return from hunting training with her mother and other lionesses. Simba sighs waiting patiently as Zazu fly's over seeing Simba laying by himself as he descends and lands next to Simba curious on what he's up to. Zazu:" Hello future king" Simba looks to his right then back straight Simba:" oh hey Zazu" he says in a bored tone Zazu:" why you here and not with your father like you usually are?" Simba shrugs his shoulders "eh.. didn't feel like it, I was wanting to play with Nala once she gets back, but it feels like hours" Zazu:" hmm, they'll be here" Simba:" yeah but when?" says as a little gust of wind coming from the East blowing his half grown red mane.
Meanwhile teen Nala stalks a nearby antelope in tall tan grass giving her and one of her hunting partners camouflage making them look invisible to the antelope. She crept forward ever so slightly every ten seconds and without Nala knowing there was a *snap* of a stick alerting the antelope making them run. Nala groaned in annoyance " oh not again!" she says and both her and hunting partner ran to chase at least one down. As they were running Nala's mother Sarafina, and Sarabi jumped out from another area of tall tan savannah grass almost right in front of the small stampede of antelope but even with that the antelope runs by them turning to the right with a small open space leaving Nala and her partner to stop to catch their breaths as her mother and Sarabi try their turn to chase at least one down. After what felt like an hour, Nala's mother and Sarabi managed to chase two good sized antelopes caring them back to Priderock with Nala's head down disappointed in her foolish mistake again which was the fifth time shes done that in the past five hunts. Sarafina:" cheer up honey you gave it your all" Nala:" yeah gave it my all just to do the exact same mistake" she said in a defeated tone.
Simba who was still laying there almost asleep finally sees his mother, Nala, Sarafina and the rest of the hunting party coming down the path as Simba jump up excited to finally play with Nala as he sits out of the way of the lionesses carrying the killed antelopes up to the pride rock. Simba:" Hey Nala!" he says happily smiling, Nala:" Hi" she says still head down not even looking at him and walks by him as his smile fades away knowing that her hunt didn't go well . Simba walks little fast to get next to her as they enter the cave "what's wrong?" Nala sighed finally looking at Simba but then back down "the same dumb mistake I always do stepping on a stick making a noise, I'm never going to be able to hunt for this pride" she says sighing again laying down where she usually lays where she sleeps with Simba sitting up next to her. Simba:" sure you will it just takes practice" Nala:" you think so?" she says lifting her head up to look at Simba, Simba:" I know so, as many stories I heard from my mom I never heard one saying ones first mistake was just a stick" Nala then sat up feeling a bit better, Nala:" thanks Simba" she says and both but heads which is what they normally do for thank you or to greet. Simba:" your welcome friend".
Nala: "you wanna help me practice my hunting?" she asks, Simba:" sure I'll be more than happy" he says as both stand up to go find a good spot near pride rock. After a few minutes Simba was alone in a hilly dark brown dirt just looking around, as behind him the green grass starts to descend slowly and everytime he look back it stops. Simba starts to wonder where she might be, Simba:" it's been twenty minutes, I wonder where she is" he says quietly to himself then all of a sudden Nala pounces out of nowhere landing on Simba and within that progress they both started to roll down the hill together similar to the pin game they used to play as cubs and with similar results Nala is the one to be on top with both laughing and giggling. Nala:" so how did I do?" Simba:" I don't know what your complaining about your sneaky as a snake on water" he says smiling up at his best friend, Nala giggled at the compliment Nala:" thanks, but I'm not in a area where there would be twigs or stick that would give a sound" she says getting off of Simba. Simba:" hmm, you got the sneaky stalk down, what if you looked where you were walking, like take your eye off the target for a couple of seconds to see where your walking and know your surroundings?" he suggests. Nala looks to the ground and thinks for a second "I never done that before" then looks up at Simba.
Simba:" well there's your answer" he says smiling at his best friend as Nala smiles back "thank you Simba" as they got done speaking Simba's father approaches from the opposite direction from priderock, Mufasa:" hello Simba, Nala" Nala:" hello majesty" Simba:" hello dad, where have you been?" Mufasa:" oh just doing one last patrol before I go to sleep" Simba said "oh, what do you patrol" Mufasa:" just the perimeter of the prideland" Simba:" can we patrol next time" Mufasa:" um..." he thinks "maybe another time when your a little older" Simba:" oh come on dad we're not cubs anymore" Mufasa:" true, but in my eyes your still a cub to me plus it could far too dangerous" he says smiling at his son and son's best friend as the sun started to set over the horizon Simba:" dangerous or not I'm gonna have to learn the perimeter and know what I'm gonna have to look for when I become king" Mufasa:" again true, but If the time is just right for a disaster I could lose you and Nala, so the answer is still no" Simba sighed. Mufasa:" so what were you two up too" he says changing the subject Nala:" Simba is helping me practice my hunting and help trying to find a strategy where I won't step on a twig again." Mufasa:" and how's that going?" Simba:" pretty good we think we got it or... she got it" he says Mufasa nods proudly Mufasa:" that's good, hope it pays out for you, don't stay out too late " he says before walking to the den Nala:" thanks" Simba:" and we won't" Nala has always seen Mufasa as an father figure but since she never knew who her real father was and, Scar was a creep to her so she doesn't bother but she always goes to Mufasa if her mother isn't around for help or advise.
Simba looks up at the dark turning sky seeing little specs of light starting to appearing, as Nala looks up also. Simba looks at Nala " so wanna look at the stars for a little bit?" Nala:" sure" she says happily as they go to a hill that leads to a cliff and lays down next to each other. As they lay there the bright full moon rises and shines whatever light at them and the Earth around them, Simba:" wow it's beautiful" Nala:" yeah it is", Simba:" you know, my father told me that the great kings of the past are up there looking down on us" Nala:" really?" she says looking at Simba then the sky again. Simba nods "yes, and just gets me thinking compared to me and my father do you think I'll ever be one of those great kings?" Nala and Simba look at each other, Nala:" of course you would, what makes you say that?" Simba:" i don't know it just came to me, my father when he was at my age he was doing something a future king would do that I'm not doing, I just don't have that confident feeling that I'm not going to be a good king" he says getting up and goes a little bit towards the cliff and looks at the night sky and sighs.
Nala gets up and sits next to him looking at him, Nala:" Simba, just because you don't feel confident doesn't mean you won't be a great king, plus your still young and for you to be king is still years ahead of you for you to get prepared" Simba:" with that being said will I live up to what those kings did or my father to make them great or will I be an forgotten soul" Nala:" I know for sure you won't be a forgotten soul as long as we all remember." it cheered Simba up a little bit. Simba looked at Nala :" thanks Nala" Nala:" my pleasure" as she then yawns Nala:" well I don't know about you but I'm gonna head to bed" Simba:" ok I'll follow in a little bit" Nala:" ok, goodnight" Simba:" goodnight", Simba gets an idea and gets Nala's attention Simba:" oh Nala wait" Nala stops and turns around to hear what Simba has to say* Simba:" wanna patrol the perimeter tomorrow" Nala giggled a bit while saying " didn't your father told you not too?" Simba:" aand did I listen when he said not to go to the elephant graveyard?" Nala laughed " I guess that answers that, and sure why not" she says smiling Simba:" sweet, I wake you up" Nala:" wake me up?" Simba:" we're gonna have to beat dad up so he don't catch's us on the way out" Nala nods then turns around after saying night. As she was walking away Simba couldn't help but notice how pretty and beautiful Nala is at night, Simba shakes his head out of it and says to himself quietly so that Nala wouldn't hear "what am I thinking?, she's my friend" "maybe I stayed up too long" he says getting up and heading towards priderock.
While Nala was walking away she couldn't help but notice how handsome Simba was at night but she did the same shaking her head and said the same thing as Simba but only said it in her head as she enters the cave to sleep next to her mom, and as she laid down she seen Simba come in and laid next to his father who was laid next to his mother, and shut his eyes to sleep as she did the same.
