Rain

Don't own Avatar in anyway.

My first Zutara fic, be gentle, please.

Rain

Rain drops soak him wet and cold. His hair and clothes retain the water, sticking to his body like a cool, damp skin. His inner fire can warm him, can dry him, but the rain stops when the rain stops, and he's wet until then.

She's like the rain. She's always been like the rain. He can still feel the cool touch of soft skin on his fire scarred cheek. Water soothing what was once scorched by flames. She stays with him like the rain as well. He can't fully rid himself of her when he wants to. Her words are liquid, her touches drops that douse him, make him forget who he was because he wants to be who she first thought he could be.

And like rain; he needs her. His newly found tree of kindness and hope and destiny can't grow without water. Her actions cling to him like his soaked clothes. Realization of her power washes over him in waves, she can do things with water that terrify him and only make him want her approval more. He wants her to like him the way he likes her. He idolizes her because she's always known who she is and because she trusted him back when he didn't trust himself. And it hurts him more then he can admit that she treats him like the old Zuko. The Zuko he is never going to be again. Her water is slowly drowning him and he wants nothing more then a breath of sweet air. Her forgiveness can be his air just like she's his water.

The rain is still cold, but it'll fade away soon enough.
