Author's Note: This takes place after a fierce battle with Naraku amd his demon army.

Silence

Rain falls from a starless night

Washing away the tears

That dance down her cheeks

Running fingers tinged with red

Through silver silk hair of the head in her lap

Thunder crashing, moving the earth

Quieting her gentle sobs and distant pleas

Which float on the storm swept winds

Out and over the turbulent, black seas

Gentle fingers trace soft features

Of the still face that she cradles

Breathing shallow to match the breath of him

Red stains red, darkening in the moon swept night

Engulfed in its pale, gloom and glow

Eyes of softened amber open to meet those of a gentle hazel

She is reflected in his dimming eyes

He is reflected in her pain

She whispers to him and he hears

But fades away, the moon fading with him

She holds his broken, mortal body to her

Whispering to him what he cannot hear

The sky weeps for them, its pain as endless as hers

Voices fill in the silence between crashes and cries - silence

Cut short by a silhouetted figure, black as the night around them

Illuminated by the sky's grief

A solemn face and battled scarred physique

Looms like death above her; emotion escapes her

Mind as numb as the body it lingers in

Strong hands push her into the soft mud and disfigured ground

Falling, she does not fight; a face as somber as his

Peering at the death cloaked figure from behind

A blackness of night and a grayness of defeat

Flat, commanding words uttered through thin, nearly motionless lips

Seeming to aplomb the thunder and lightning

A pearl wall of light fills her blank eyes and she is blinded

Tears dried and rain ceases to fall

All is silent in her hell again

Alone, still, in her eclipse; sitting mutely

As the night cloaks her - untouchable

From the dark comes a hand, pulling her in -

Into a warmth that could not be

Into softness and scent that should not be

Tears fall, tracing the old down her streaked face

Rough claws - gentle - brush them away

Eyes as golden as the bare, exposed moon burn into her

Pause

Lips meet in a cold night

Relief meets surprise; love to love

No questions asked, no words spoken

Eyes say all that is needed

Lifted into tepid arms that were once frore - dead

Away into the twilight forest, bathed in stars and moonlight

Greeting them in life when left in death

Soft breathing from warm shadows

A dying storm lights up a ascetic face; no emotion

Watching the final act of a play as actors leave center stage

No grief, no happiness; nothing plays across

The pallid face of a brothers' savior

The last light of a dying sky

Reveals a glimmer of soft emotion in statuesque eyes

Lost in the welcome darkness of the turbulent night; gone

All is silent again.
