This is a sequel to my story campout. I have had a couple of people ask me what the girls were doing while the boys were gone, so here you go!
While the Boys Are Away
Amy and Jackie sat at the kitchen table, Jackie holding Karlie in her arms.
Jill and the four little girls (Jasmine, Johnna) and (Anna and Caitlin-Amy and Matt's daughter's) were busily making cookies.
"Eat dem?" Jasmine asked her grandma.
"They have to bake first." Jill told her as she slid the cookie sheet into the oven.
Jasmine frowned, waiting didn't sound like something she wanted to do.
Jill looked at Jasmine's facial expression and laughed.
"You're as impatient as your grandpa and your daddy." She told the little girl.
Jasmine just stared at her grandma with a confused look on her face.
"Why don't you girls go play with the new toys you got today while you're waiting for the cookies to bake?" Jill suggested to her four little granddaughters.
The girls hurriedly scampered off into the living room.
Jill sat down with her two daughter in laws at the table.
"Ok my turn." She said as she held her arms out to Jackie, indicating she wanted to hold Karlie who was all smiles and giggles.
Jackie passed her over to Jill.
"Hi there baby girl. You sure are in a good mood." The older woman said as she kissed her baby granddaughter's forehead.
"Is she always in this great of a mood?" Amy asked.
"Usually yeah, she's like this about ninety-seven percent of the time." Jackie replied with a smile.
"She's adorable, they are so precious at this age, it's just a shame they grow up so fast."
"They sure do grow up fast, I remember when Jasmine was her age." Jackie agreed.
"I miss having a baby in the house." Amy said.
"Well there is a solution to that you know dear." Jill said with a smile.
Amy smiled and then said "I don't know Jill, I think for now we are going to stick with the two."
"Oh, well maybe this will change your mind." She said as she passed Karlie over to her.
Amy laughed and gladly took the baby but Jill hadn't managed to change her mind.
They heard a round of laughter come from the living room so Jackie got up to go see what was going on.
Jackie smiled as she poked her head into the living room and saw all four girls having tons of fun with each other. Jackie thought it was so nice that Jasmine and Johnna got to spend some time with their cousins.
After checking in on the girls Jackie rejoined Jill and Amy.
"I think the girls are really having fun together." She told them.
"That's good, they seemed to love going shopping today too." Jill answered.
"Of course they did, what child doesn't like getting to pick out a new toy?" Jackie answered with a laugh.
"True, but I have to say I had fun today too, and I'm having fun now. The boys can keep camping outside in the cold, I'll take a day of shopping and girl talk any day." Jill said.
"I'm with you there." Jackie said.
"Me too." Amy agreed.
They were interrupted by a loud dinging noise.
"The cookies are done." Jill told Amy and Jackie as she got to take them out of the oven.
Jill let the cookies cool off for a few minutes before she went into the living room.
"Girls, the cookies are done." She told her four little granddaughters with a smile.
Within seconds all four girls came running out of the living room into the kitchen.
Each of the little girls climbed up on a kitchen chair, anxiously awaiting the cookies.
Jill poured each one of them a glass of milk and then got out four little plates and put one cookie on each of the plates.
Jackie got up to help Jill carry everything to the table.
"Thank you." Each of them replied when the snacks were set in front of them.
"You're welcome, enjoy." Jill told her granddaughters with a smile.
As Jill watched the girls eat their cookies she smiled.
"I bet we did have more fun then the boys did." She thought to herself.
The End!
