Fallen Hero

Those scars run deep,

So long have they been there

To remind you of what you've gone through.

I can't help.

Your heart of gold

Burnished by the smoke that is your life

And no one can carry this burden

No one can know what you know

You are the hero, the martyr, the saint

What else have you known?

All up to now, it's been black and white

What happens when you see gray?

When your world crashes in?

But you won't let me near

You tell me to go on my way

You have things to do

That do not involve me

Do you now how much that hurts?

And I watch you turn your back

On all that you know and love

Walking away into the desert.

How do you do that?

How do you survive without hurting others?

I always am amazed

By what you can do

On your own, without realizing your power,

Your skill, you do everything so cluelessly

You can't fool me any longer

Your surface is scarred

Just like below

But no on can see that

No other one knows.

The good guy falls down

And can't get back up

The peace-loving soldier

That carries on fighting,

But can't get past his training

Would rather hold a flower than a gun

Would rather watch a sunrise, than a fight

Would rather hold a kitten and than stick

But can't,

Not with the past

The present

The future

if something does not change

You know more than you let on

I see it in your eyes

The empty smile

Something must be done

About the hurt I can see inside

The injustice unfought

The battle left half way through

Completeness in suspension

You remind me of everything I see that I'm not

Why? How can it be so easy for you?

I will not leave

I'm coming too

You think you can run forever,

Even though you don't realize it

I watch you go

And realize, that my place is with you

In your crusade

We'll make a difference, and

Your wounds will heal in time.
