"Dude! This is impossible!"

"Don't worry! We'll find a way." Robin's static voice emitted through the speakers. Slade sat casually on an armchair, watching the Titans displayed on the screen in front of him. This was perfect, they had gotten trapped in another one of his twisted mind games, now trapped in cave of some kind with no way out. Slade looked at the digital clock placed on top of the screen. Three more minutes. he thought. If the Titans had not escaped by then, they will get blown to bits, and to make matters worse, Raven was close to death, heightening their need to escape. She does, after all, have the power to teleport. the ex-soldier smirked behind his mask, Can't make it too easy for them.

For the next minute and forty-five seconds, Slade watched them struggle, squirm and use every ounce of their brain cells to try and wriggle their way out of his trap, and for the slightest of moments, he actually thought that they might not make it. However, in a nick of time, they found a way to deactivate the bomb and escaped. No doubt on their way to treat the fatally wounded empath. "They made it." he said to himself. This was not really surprising to him, they always find a way. Always. They will always be there for one another, always laugh, cry and support one another. Just like a family.

Family...

The masked man was silent as that word went through his mind. How long has it been since he last saw his family? How long has it been since he had seen Joseph or Rose? Slade himself didn't know.

They probably wouldn't want to see me anyways...

In fact, even if he did go and see them,Joseph would most likely ignore him and Rose would not hesitant to try and kill him. He did not blame them, it was, after all, his fault that they hate him. He had made so many mistakes.

It was because of him, Joseph became mute.

It was because of him, both Grant and Adeline died.

It was because of him, Rose had to go through so many hardships in her life.

Slade missed them. He missed them so, so much. But no matter how much he longed to see them, he knew he could not. For their sake, he would not. They were better off without him now, anyways. Having found friends and family in the Titans, finally receiving the love that he could not give and for that, he was grateful. He was grateful towards the Titans for taking them in.

The armored ex-lieutenant got up and started toward the exit behind him. He stopped just outside the threshold, considering... will it be possible to be a friend of the Titans?

...

No, torturing them is too fun.
