Chapter1...

Yami was victorious, once again. But this had been a tough one. If it hadn't been for his deck master, Kuriboh, he would have been stuck in that virtual world with his friends.

Yami sighed in relief as Yugi took over.

"You need your rest Yami, but you did really good!" said Yugi softly.

"Well I had you with me, and Kuriboh saved the day", replied Yami. He watched as the small fuzz ball with claws faded away with a final "kuuriii."

Yugi sat down on the grassy ledge and stared out over the water as Yami settled himself down next to him too. They sat in silence for a minute.

"Ha!" Noah cried in excitement.

It was perfect. Simply telling the big five that they would be free from their virtual prison if they beat Yugi was the perfect way to have Yugi win. Yugi never lost a duel if it was his friends or his life on the line.

As Noah watched on one screen, Gaborou sat up in a meadow. He looked around not quite understanding but as a butterfly flitted past he took a vicious swipe at it. The butterfly flickered as his hand passed through it.

Gaborou screamed.

"Hey Yami, Yami look! It's a door?" Yugi stopped in surprise as a door materialized out of nowhere.

"That's our exit out of here! Said Yami. He stood and stared a moment. The door hovered over the water, but it was close enough to reach the handle.

Yugi reached out perilously over the ledge and turned the handle. With a click, the door swung outwards, almost knocking the boy into the pond.

"Lets go!" said Yami, but Yugi stared at the darkness within with distrust.

"I don't know Yami, what if it doesn't let us out?"

"C'mon Yugi! You know the rules –we win we go free- why would it be otherwise?" Yami said to him. Yami was feeling giddy with the victory. Nothing could bring him down now, and the simple exit door looked like food to a starving person.

"Its okay, look I'll go first!" cried Yami, and with that settled he ran a few steps and leaped headfirst into the darkness.

"Yami! No…" Yugi said uneasily. He suddenly felt alone, without his spirit-friend. Disliking the feeling, he followed.

The door slammed shut behind them.
