Title: Once Things Are Seen, They Can't be Unseen

Show: Merlin

Characters: Gwen/Arthur

Rating: G

Word Count: 135

Disclaimer: I obviously don't own, because if I did…I wouldn't have to obsess over what was going to happen, cuz I would KNOW *cries*

Spoilers & A/N: Inspired by a scene's filming that they keep showing in the Behind the Scene specials (it's brief, with no dialogue). And after recently watching it over & over again, I came up with this. Pure speculation (although very vague).

llllllllll

Gwen longed for the days when Arthur didn't ever see her – when she was just another faceless servant not of his notice.

And she longed for the days when she didn't truly see him – when he was just the prince and she didn't know the man.

She longed for the days when she could pass him in the halls of the castle, their presence unaffecting to each other. She would move out of the way and give a quick curtsey without a thought; he would walk by, unmindful of her.

But most importantly, she longed for the days when he didn't blatantly ignore her if she tried to so much as speak to him, his face hardened. And she longed for the days when that wouldn't have hurt her like a knife in the chest.
