Sam had left Martin when he had received the text. It wasn't to go to Amelia, though. He knew that Amelia hadn't texted him. It was a trick from Dean to get him out of the way. That trick would allow him to track Dean electronically, though.

Benny was glad that they had killed the vampire that had been causing him trouble. The problem was Dean was bleeding. He wanted to feed off him so bad. Fresh blood was better than blood bank blood. Blood bank blood was like stale day-old bread.
"I have to go," he said and went outside to escape temptation. Dean was his friend. He wouldn't feed off of him.

Benny was pacing outside the warehouse. He knew Dean was in there giving him a few minutes to overcome the bloodlust. He just about had it under control.
"Where's Dean?"
Benny spun around. He had been so distracted he hadn't heard, sensed, or smelled Dean's brother coming up behind him. If he wasn't careful he would end up right back in Purgatory.
"Inside. We just killed a vamp," Benny answered.
Dean had heard the voices and came outside. "Sammy, I figured you'd be long gone."
"I'm not as stupid as you think, Dean."
"I don't think you're stupid. I just wanted you out of harm's way," Dean admitted. As mad as he was at Sam for not looking for him, he was still his big brother. He had to protect Sammy.
"So, there really was another vampire?"
"Yeah, Sam. It's over."
Dean was still bleeding. That vamp had gotten him good. Benny could still smell it. He wanted it so bad. But, he wouldn't take Dean's. He lunged towards Sam.
"Sam!" Dean yelled in warning and pulled out his machete.
Sam tried to get out of the way of the barreling vampire, but found himself being pushed down to the ground.
Dean watched as his best friend, the one who had never betrayed him in any way, started to take a bite of his brother. He hesitated for less than a second and chopped his head off.
"You OK?" Dean asked.
"Yeah. Are you?" Sam knew how much Benny had meant to Dean. Even after everything that Ruby had done, Sam had still missed her a little after her death.
"I will be," Dean said.
"I'm sorry, Dean."
"Not your fault, Sammy. I guess you were right after all."
"I really didn't want to be," Sam said truthfully. "Why did you do it?"
"What?" Dean asked.
"Why did you choose me over him?"
"You're my brother, Sam."
"Yeah, but you said he was the only one whose never let you down. Apparently all I do is let you down."
"No matter what you do, I will always choose you over everybody else," Dean said. "Wish I could say the same for you."
"You think I chose Amelia over you?"
"Didn't you?" Dean asked.
"No. It wasn't a matter of choosing her over you. You weren't there to choose. You were dead, Dean. You heard what Bobby said before we burned his flask. When it's your time to go, go. I didn't want to let you go, but I had to. Plus, I didn't know where you were. And even if I had, how would I have gotten you out? And at what cost to who? I thought for once I would actually learn from our past mistakes."
"I hadn't thought of it like that, Sam. I guess I understand why you didn't look for me. But, it still hurts."
"If I knew then what I know now, I would have looked for you," Sam said. "It seems like I'm always making the wrong choices."
"Not always," Dean said, cryptically. "Let's salt and burn Benny and get out of here."
The End.
