Something New

Summary: (Camilson) Yeah, this was definitely the start of something new. (One-shot. More chapters may come later.)

Disclaimer: I, unfortunately, do not own House. I wish I did. Oh the havoc I could wreck.

A/N: I'm a little rusty with the House fanfiction, so pardon me if the characters seem a little off.

Depending on the reaction I get from this, there may be more chapters in the future. It's not a definite right now. So enjoy! Review! You know the drill.

It was just a simple gesture. She needed a place to stay while her apartment was being redone. He could have used the company.

They took turns cooking meals. They took turns carpooling to work. They took turns cleaning up a bit; washing dishes, stuff like that.

But…there was something.

Neither one of them were sure what it was. But the more time they spent together, the more they felt it.

In his apartment, they flowed together. It was as if she fit perfectly in his life. It was smooth sailing.

They didn't want to say anything, didn't want to ruin it.

But he couldn't keep quiet, not on her last night with him.

"Allison…" It was still weird for him to call her by her first name. He hardly ever did it.

"Yeah?" She brought her gaze up from the novel she was currently reading. She devoured them like candy. He loved watching her read. She always seemed so at ease.

"Uh…if this is too forward, feel free to throw that book at my head," he smiled at her tiny chuckle and continued, "but…I'm really going to miss you."

Allison Cameron smiled softly, positive that she was blushing as she closed the book and set it down on the coffee table in front of her. "I'll miss you too, James, but we'll see each other at work."

"That's not what I meant," James Wilson replied as he joined her on the couch, his arm resting on the back of it.

"I know," she said softly, looking down at her hands in her lap.

"This was…"

"…interesting," she finished with a smile, looking over at him.

"I was going to say it was 'fun', but 'interesting' covers it too," he commented with a tiny laugh.

"I know I've thanked you plenty while I've been here but…" Allison hesitantly reached over and placed a gentle hand on his knee. "Thank you for letting me stay here. I really appreciate it."

James stared at her hand for a bit and then smiled, slowly covering her hand with his. "Again, you're welcome."

They stared into each other's eyes for a while. Unspoken words passed between them and they both relaxed. Allison was the first to break contact as she reached over for the remote to the television. "Let's watch a movie."

Wilson's arm went back to rest on the back of the couch. "What do you want to watch?"

"Hmm…Blade is on…"

"I didn't know you liked gory movies…" he smirked as she leaned back, leaving the remote on the coffee table.

"Can't watch chick flicks all the time," she looked at him and smiled.

It didn't take long before her head was leaning against his shoulder and his arm was around her.

Yeah, this was definitely the start of something new.
