READ THIS PLEASE OTHERWISE YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL WHERE I AM GOING WITH THIS. Right okay, so all these one-shots are going to be sort of AU, for this one, we have to pretend that Kurt is at McKinley and has visited Dalton and met Blaine and they are going out, but Blaine still goes to Dalton while Kurt is in McKinley. I know in Glee Kurt was attending Dalton when they started going out, but that's why this is kind of AU.
Blaine and Kurt sat in the coffee shop, they sat opposite each other. Kurt had his head on the table and his hands hanging lazily by his sides. Blaine was watching him intently.
"Kurt?" Blaine asked. Kurt slowly lifted his head up, looking Blaine in the eyes.
"Mmm," he replied. Blaine raised an eyebrow at him.
"You okay, Kurt?" he asked. Kurt shook his head. Blaine then frowned sympathetically, he reached and grabbed Kurt's left arm, lifting it on the table. He put his hand on Kurt's.
"What's up?" he asked softly. Kurt sighed.
"Honestly, Blaine, I'm just lonely." Blaine's heart sank at this. He tilted his head, still looking at Kurt.
"Why?" he asked.
"I'm just having one of those days to be honest. I know I have the Glee Club, and they are great honestly, but I'm still the only openly gay kid at school. I just wish you were there. You understand me, and you're like me, you're different...you're gay. I just feel out of place." Blaine continued looking at him.
"Kurt," he started. "I'm sorry I'm not there with you, it's just complicated transferring schools, leaving the Warblers. But you're not the only different person there, I mean...didn't you say Rachel was Jewish? Mercedes is black, Artie is in a wheelchair..."
"Yes but..." Kurt interjected quickly "there's other Jewish people, there's other black people, there's other people with disabilities...I'm the only openly gay kid Blaine!" he raised his voice slightly. Blaine sighed in defeat.
"Kurt, I know how it feels, you know I know how it feels but...you're not alone. You may be the only openly gay kid, but you're not alone, you're never alone. So maybe not the whole school accepts you, but nobody is accepted by everyone, there's always going to be someone who doesn't accept you. But you do still have friends who accept you, and you have me. I may not be at the same school as you, but I love you and I'll always be here for you no matter what." This did kind of make Kurt feel better, but he was still down. Blaine squeezed Kurt's hand re-assuringly.
"Mommy those two boys are holding hands," a little girl said as she walked past the table with her Mom, she was looking at them curiously with her mouth open slightly. Her Mom put a hand over her daughters eyes and hurried her away, scowling at Kurt and Blaine as she did. Kurt rolled his eyes and dropped his head on to the table.
"Kurt, people out there are homophobic and that's never gonna change," Blaine said, stroking Kurt's hair softly.
"I just don't get it. So two guys are holding hands. How is that so wrong? How is it so different to a girl and a boy?" Kurt muffled into the table. Blaine sighed and put his elbows on the table and rested his chin on his hands.
"Like I said, we won't be accepted by everyone, but there are people out there that accept us, and that's more important, that's what you have to focus on," he said passionately. Kurt lifted his head up and looked at his boyfriend.
"Thank you, Blaine," he said half heartedly. Blaine smiled sympathetically at him and held his hand again, giving it another re-assuring squeeze.
So it's not very long, but it's my first one shot so cut me some slack? Tell me what you think, tell me what could be improved and say what you'd like to see in the next one-shot so the next one will be even better:)
