Set after Primeval 3x02 - The one with the empty house, and the little girl in the red coat who, at the beginning, I thought was a miniature Claudia Brown. Spoilers for Primeval Series 1 finale, and 3x03, obviously, as well as Doctor Who season 4. Enjoy!

The house is empty now.
The only noise is the creak of an old wooden swing as it sways back and forth. If you look very closely, you can just see the flickers of a shadow on the peeling paint of the seat.
Rose Tyler, gun on lap, pushes herself backwards and forwards with her legs as she contemplates the events of the day she's just been through.
This time had been too close for comfort. She'd already had her doubts about the - side effects, shall we say – of her mission to return to this universe. Oh, she was making it through all right, there was no doubt about that; others could even see her shadow now, but the latest consequences of her mission were increasing her doubts.
Was she doing the right thing?
Two boys were dead. "Because of you." She thought, but stopped herself.
These 'anomalies' as they were known in this universe, were causing a lot of trouble. Rose could remember the disappearance of 'Claudia Brown' quite clearly, although, to be honest, her 'replacement' didn't seem much different – at least not to someone who didn't know her.
There had been a time - not so long ago - when Rose would have been distraught at the thought of someone suffering because of her actions, a time when she would have fought to regain 'Claudia Brown'.
"Well, they say love's blind, don't they?" Jackie had said distastefully.
This comment had come after the news of the death of Captain Ryan, the first time Rose had considered shutting down her whole operation.
Maybe it wasn't worth it.
All these deaths, injuries, all this messing around with time and space and monsters – and dinosaurs for god's sake.
Maybe it wasn't worth it.
But, as Rose leapt off the seat at the height of its swing, she remembered yesterday, when that odd little girl (Emily? Was that her name?) had caught a glimpse of her.
The technology was being continually fine-tuned, and she was slowly making her way into this world.
"Maybe a little longer." She thought. One more death and she'd stop for sure.
Maybe a little longer.
