I never knew my real parents
My caretakers told me that before I was born, my father died after a long battle with brain cancer
It was only a month before the day of my birth
My mother had an very difficult delivery, and she passed away only one week after my birth
I miss them with all my heart, even if I never knew them
I never had a chance to know their faces, their voices, their lullabies, or their love
I grew up in the supervision of a foster home with other children around my age
Sometimes, they would hurt my feelings, and mock me
The caretakers would not offer much support, as they didn't seem to understand
The only comfort I found in my empty life... was Spirit
His film brought joy to my life, and his merchandise brought material value to my day
On the day of my thirteenth birthday, I woke up, put on my Spirit t-shirt, and walked downstairs
The other children gathered together to pick on me as usual
They pointed their fingers and picking on me for the fact that I had no friends outside of the orphanage to come to my birthday
"You don't have any friends!", began one of the bullies, "..other than Spirit, of course!"
They all laughed
"Even an idiot like you should know that Spirit is shirit!"
I didn't eat a cake, play a game, or talk to anyone
I decided to go upstairs to my room, and to write in my journal:
"24th May", I wrote in the corner of the page
"..I was surrounded by people all day, but I always felt alone."
I closed the book and put my pen down
I took a deep breath and was... surprised to find my ears filling with the sound of... ...horsefeet clomping
I heard a familiar, soft, and fatherly voice from the window of my room
"You're never alone...", the voice said "...not now, not ever."
I turn my head and spotted a lonely horse
"Sp... Spirit?", I whispered "Is that you?"
"Yes, it is. I'm here for your birthday, young one."
My heart has risen
A smile filled my face
"Really? Thank you, Spirit! This is the happiest day of my life!", I told him, elated
"Come with me, your presents' downstairs.", he said
I hopped up onto Spirit's back, and we walked down the stairs
The children all looked at Spirit and I, in suprise, as we entered the room
"What could the presents be?", I thought
I was very excited
Spirit looked at me and winked, before I stepped off his saddle
He aimed at the group of children and began a cold charge towards them, and he eventually ran over them and trampled them.
I could hear their screaming and I became satisfied, the children were dead
No words were exchanged
He soon carried me to bed
I was glad, as we went back upstairs, back to my room
I tucked myself into my bed, but then I quickly realised that Spirit was heading for the window
"Wait, Spirit!", I said
"I want to come with you... ...please", I continued with a worried look "I want you to be my dad."
"I am your father, child", Spirit replied as he smiled and chuckled "for all those who truly believe in me are my children." I began to smile again
Spirit winked, before leaping out of the window and disappearing into the dead of the night
I laid back on my bed and slowly closed my eyes, as I thought of my last thought before drifting into sleep:
"Spirit is love; Spirit is life."
