Author's Note: Hardy seeing any stories featuring TWD's (S.1) Jim, I decided to put this piece together. It's awful I know, but I have a soft spot for Jim, besides Daryl Dixon, he was one of my favorite characters.
The torture of her indecision and anxiety threatened to crush her as she laid down next to to him, sadness holding her like a vice-like grip.
"W-Why-" He coughed, hopelessly trying to catch his breath. "Why didn't you go with them?"
Eyes meeting, he cocked his head to the side as she flashed him a half sympathetic smile. "You shouldn't be alone, Jim."
Lapsing momentarily, a gut wrenching sob wracked through him and escaped his lips. Lips quivering, a pained look washed over her face; she knew it was only a matter of time.
"Please... Just leave..."
Rubbing at her eyes with the back of her hands, she tried to regain her composure as watery eyes rimmed upwards. "I won't... I promised ya' I wouldn't leave you. I promised ya' Imma stay with you till' de' end."
A sad smile splaying across his face, Jim laid his hand on top of hers, his heartbeat slowly thumping, he inhaled deeply, murmuring his final words. "I... I can be with my family now..."
Rasping, her eyes already brimming, she guided her hands to her waist, cocking the gun in her hand. "Yeah, I know..."
'Bang', the echo of the ear-splitting gunshot going off ripped through their ears. Keeping her promise, everything was stricken into silence.
