Down In His Front Yard
A/N: Filk to CCR's "Down On The Corner", they own it not me. C&H belong to Bill Watterson and Universal Press Syn. God bless y'all & enjoy!
In the great suburban outback, near the great city,
I saw this crazy ol' kid settin' up business in the street,
His hair was spiked and hangin' high, not to mention a bit blond
He was only six, and he claimed his name was Cal-von.
Chorus:
Down in his front yard, near a Chevy that was neat,
Calvin was sellin' health insurance, yeah
Fifty cents an' you won't get beat.
Verse One:
Well there was this one girl, called herself Susie D.
Said some some to stuff to Calvin, that he really thought smartie
So, as she said, "Why should I buy insurance today?"
Calvin picked up his rock-and-sling,
An' it made a sound like kapwing
Chorus:
Down in his front yard, near a Chevy that was neat,
Calvin was sellin' health insurance, yeah,
Fifty cents an' you won't get beat.
(2X)
Verse Two:
And if you've got a nickel, you don't need to hang around,
But if you've got a Kennedy, boy, just lay your plan down.
Susie was layin' smack down upon her face,
While that bully Calvin was laughin' at a steady pace
Chorus:
Down in his front yard, near a Chevy that was neat,
Calvin was sellin' health insurance, yeah,
Fifty cents an' you won't get beat.
Verse Three: (to tune and timing of two consecutive choruses)
(Chorus 1) Calvin's mom came out, yeah, lookin' pretty mad,
Said "If you wanna live till seven, give these people their money back."
(Chorus 2) In a desolated front yard, near where a Chevy had been parked
Since Calvin's mom picked him up,
All his claims have been shut down.
