NCIS: The New Kid

The office was busy as it always is. Two adults were speaking with a high school student looking around curiously. One of the adults was Agent Lee, the other her older sister asking an urgent question.

"Shirley, I'm sorry. This is so last minute, but you need to! Everyone else is out of town, and she simply can't stay home alone. Her sister won't come home 'til around 8 and I asked her to pick Bridge up then. Please? You're my last hope!"

"Debb, there is no way Gibbs is going to accept! This is a closed environment and the only thing keeping even you in here is because you are under my supervision," Agent Lee said quickly. Just then, Leroy Jethro Gibbs walked in holding his usual coffee.

Bridget, the high schooler, smiled widely.

"Mum, I'm going to go say hi to Gibbs, kay?"

"Wait, Bridge!" Agent Lee started, but then saw the smile on Gibbs' face. She stopped herself at the sight of his happiness.

"Uncle Jeth!" Bridget said, jumping into his hug.

"Bridget! It's been ages. How have you been? I missed so much! Junior high? High school?" Gibbs said.

"Insanity!" She exclaimed. Tony, Ziva, and McGee all watched this odd embrace. They weren't used to their boss getting unknown visitors. Especially young, Asian ones. "Everyone is so smart in all my classes!"

Agent Lee and Debby Lee watched with smiles from across the room. Debby looked at her sister with a chuckle.

"I think he accepted."

"DiNozzo, Ziva, McGee! Come meet Bridge," Gibbs said excitedly. "Tony, Ziva, Tim," he said pointing them out. "This is Bridget. When I was a probie, I helped investigate her father's murder. She's an old family friend."

"Nice to meet all of you! According to my mom, I will get plenty of time to get to know you. If," she turned to Gibbs. "That's OK with you. I got kicked off of the newspaper, so I have nowhere to be after school."

"Kicked off?" Gibbs asked, surprised.

"What did you do, steal a computer?" Tony asked, causing Bridget to turn.

"No. Wrote an article that was 'inappropriate' and published it on the newspaper without permission. But I assure you, it was the best sold copy in all of West High history," she said with a smile. She then ran to her bag by her mom's feet and pulled out a newspaper. "Tada!" She presented the newspaper to Gibbs.

"West High Gazette, The NCIS Inside Story…" Gibbs studied the newspaper for a bit, and then looked shocked. "How did you get that picture?"

He was pointing to a picture of him studying a dead body at the scene of a crime."Oh, that. I was hanging upside down from a tree. I wanted this whole thing to be a surprise. Hence the 'tada!'"

"So you're a tree climber, huh?" Ziva asked.

"Only for an investigation, ma'am," Bridget replied easily.

"Please, call me Ziva."

"Sure thing. And I don't mean to blow anyone's cover, but I need to thank McGee."

"Why's that?" Gibbs asked, looking at McGee with an eyebrow raised.

"I helped her with the informational part of the article. She told me what she wanted and it seemed noble, so I helped out," he answered. He then smiled at Bridget. "It was no problem."

"McGee? Information? Where have I heard this before…" Tony said jokingly. Bridget giggled quietly and soon gained control over herself.

Debby walked over and gave Bridget her school bag. After receiving a kiss on the cheek, Bridget wiped lip residue off with the back of her hand.

"After all these years, I hope I can trust her in your hands, Jethro." Debby said, being very cautious.

"Have I ever let you down, Debb?"

AN: I just realized this is really short. Sorry! But please, try to enjoy this. I don't own NCIS, only Debby, Bridget, and (later on) Kaylie are mine! *uses death voice* Steal and die... R&R!

NCIS joke (I'm going to tyr to put one in every chapter!): Chuck Norris checks his closet for Gibbs before he goes to bed.
