This is just a mini-story I scribbled down during a lecture. After coming back to my dorm room I just made some technical changes and... voila! It turned out to be an almost-drabble.
There isn't really much more to say so enjoy!

Gregory timidly entered the small hospital room where his wife, Alice, lay in the bed by the window, holding a little, white bundle near her chest. She was pale and tired but when she heard her husband's steps, she raised her head and smiled.
"Hey, Greg" she whispered.
"Hey, Allie" Gregory said, sitting down on the bed and kissing her head.
"We have a daughter" Alice said proudly, giving the baby to her husband. "Do you want to hold her?"
The man cautiously took the girl in his arms and closely looked at her. For a newborn, she was very pretty, despite the yellowish skin and the swollen face.
"For all those months, I've hoped it would be a boy" he admitted, without taking his eyes off of his baby daughter, who had just grabbed his finger. "But now, I wouldn't trade her even for five sons. She's lovely" he said, giving the infant to his wife.
"How will we call her?" Alice asked, gently cradling the girl in her arms. "Gertrude doesn't fit her at all."
For a moment, they both were silent.
"Velma" Gregory spoke suddenly."Velma Dace Dinkley."
"Nice" his wife said with a smile. "Welcome to the world, Vellie" she added tenderly, kissing one of her daughter's tiny hands.
