Chapter One
I was running, desperately trying to escape her. I didn't know anything about her; all I knew was that she was danger. I had to get to Lissa, I had to protect her. It was my duty, and then it started pouring down with rain. I pushed myself even though my legs were screaming at me to stop. I must have slipped in a puddle because the next thing I knew I was laying on the ground, soaking wet. With the lady's face peering over me. A satisfied look on her face. Her eyes, I realized were a piercing blue.
'Rose!'
I suddenly jumped up. I took in my surroundings; I was in my small room at St. Vladimir's Academy and Lissa my best friend was standing at the foot of my bed.
'God Lis, you scared me'
'Sorry, I was just trying to wake you up. Was pretty hard considering you were having a nightmare'
'Yeah' the events of the dream suddenly came rushing to me
'Wanna talk about it?'
'Nah I think I'm fine now'
'Well good. Now get your ass out of that bed and get dressed Kirova has an announcement to make. We have to be down in the hall in 10min'
'What!' I screamed
I quickly jumped out of bed. I threw on some dark denim jeans, a dark red long sleeved shirt and some black boots. I then hurried into the bathroom, washed my face, combed through my long, dark hair and applied some mascara to my dark brown eyes. It was a wonder I didn't poke my eye out.
'Okay I'm ready'
'Wow, for someone who got ready in 5min you look gorgeous!'
'Well you look stunning as usual Lis, now come on lets go'
I quickly went into Lissa's mind. She was always comparing herself to me. She felt washed out and skinny compared to my tanned, curvy figure. But Lissa always took pride in her appearance for she had to represent her family's name. Today she was wearing light denim jeans, white long sleeved top, black ankle boots and a pink scarf. Her long, blonde hair cascaded down her back. Perfect and straight as always. But behind that perfect image, just like everyone else she was suffering. The Academy had just recently gone under attack by a group of Strigori working together. Dimitri, my mentor who I have feelings for and I barely escaped. I so hope Kirova is sending us somewhere nice and warm for a break. The Montana winter is awful, but matches the mood perfectly here at school.
