When the final Raindrop falls

Upon the open sea

Who will care?

It had just finished downpouring, the last few droplets drizzling against the windows of my room as I gazed solumnly at the street below. Thunder rumbled in the distance, dark clouds slowly breaking up.

My hair was still damp from the battle with vlad, his taunts still ringing in my ears.

Pale blue eyes flickered over the various wounds recently aquired, before darting back up to the rain-spattered glass. My reflection stared back at me...sad...nearly hopeless.

When the last leaf flutters

to the ground in a forest

who will see?

He claimed I was finally becoming him. The son that he never had. A spitting image of himself before he learned to alter his form.

I denied his claims, screaming my defience to the heavans even after he had flown away. I had sobbed my good intentions to the earth that I had lain upon, my ectoplasm intermingling with the wet grass and mud.

I am not evil. I never will be.

I promised

When the last trickle

Of my sanity departs

Who will notice?

I am starting to talk to my phantom side. We are no longer truly one being...I am no longer half ghost.

Just human, with a spiritual being sharing the same body.

He wants out.

He wants to take the easy path... The path that I refuse to take

He wants me to die.

When my body is destroyed

Will I die?

Or will Phantom live forever...

Even when I am in my ghostly form, I feel him tugging at the back of my mind, whispering ill thoughts into my mind... what I should have done. What I will do.

He says I will become Vlad...

No...

He says I will become more than vlad.

More powerful

A ruler of this world, and the next

Like my future self, that I defeated and refused to become.

He laughs at my attempts to ignore him

He knows my resolve is growing weaker

He waits

When the final light is extinguished

Will the shadows reign?

Or will they fade too?

When there is nothing more to conqure

Nothing to destroy.

Shadows are just the Absence of light

One cannot exist without the other

Phantom allows me to fight, for he knows this

He wants me to become the last flickering candle in a sea of darkness

When I refuse him...he agrees

He says he will make sure vlad is that candle

So when the time comes...

"Danny?"

"Yes, Jazz?"

"I just wanted to say, that I am very proud of you. I love you, little brother."

"Thanks"

I turned toward the sky, grinning faintly to see thick beams of golden light peircing the cloud cover. They highlighted the city in a heavenly perspective, letting the autumn leaves shine as if they were on fire.

A shimmering rainbow arched over the city, its being wavering just slightly with the mist around it.

/You are wrong, Phantom./

/Light will always break through in the end/
