" Blasted sabers," Edmund grumbled, limping along. His hand clutched the area of his armor where his leg burned.

"Ed!" Peter's voice resounded behind him in the open field. " Edmund! Come back!"

Edmund set his jaw and kept walking- limping.

His older brother caught up to him pretty easily. " Oh, c'mon! I didn't hit you that hard."

" You're right," Edmund said calmly, turning to face his brother. Peter breathed a sigh of relief which lasted but a moment before the Just king went on. " You didn't hit me hard. You didn't even hit." He paused for effect.

" You whipped me!"

" Sorry, Ed!" Peter cried. " I didn't know you weren't going to attack! I was just trying to feign the attack...I guess I just miscalculated the distance."

" Yeah, you should work on that," Edmund staggered on.

" Can I do something for you? Get some ice? Water? Do you want me to carry you?"

" Peter!" Edmund exasperated. " Carry me? What am I? Eight?"

" Thirteen," Peter replied. " Not that far off."

Edmund glared daggers at him.

Peter rolled his eyes. " All right! What do you want me to do?"

Edmund sighed and thought for a minute. " Can you get my saber? I forgot it on the field."

Peter nodded and jogged off to get it. Several moments later, he reappeared with the dulled weapon and handed it to Edmund.

" Thanks, Pete," Edmund smiled. " You're the best. I mean it."

Peter's cheeks turned scarlet. He waved his hand dismissively and turned to return to the training grounds. There would be no fight with Edmund; Peter was pleased. That was until he felt a stinging on his thigh that sent an echoing yelp from his mouth. And a following, " EDMUND!"

The dark-haired boy smirked satisfactorily.

" Pay-back, brother. Pay-back."

From a distance, a centaur general watched and noted that saber practice could wait another year or so.
