Blink:

"Hey man, sorry, the other night, for throwing you," came the gruff, stilted voice of the academy's resident hunter. Kain blinked. "It's all right."

Eloquent:

The words aren't eloquent, but the meaning is there, if you look, and that's what makes this conversation possible.

Neither:

Neither one is sure what to do next, but the silence is more uncertain than awkward. Finally, it's Kain that breaks it. "Next time though, maybe you could through Shiki, I wanna see if his expression changes."

New:

Zero doesn't know what this feeling is, friendship is new to him, but he grins at Kain. "Sure thing, but make sure to bring a camera, I want to see too."

Initiate:

Zero and Kain smile, and the silver haired boy finds himself to be happy that he initiated this.

Novice:

Zero is a novice to the friendship idea, but thinks it might not be so bad, to have a connection to someone not steeped in blood, duty, guilt, or gratefulness.

Oblivious:

Shiki comes moseying by a bare minute later, oblivious to the rather predatory way the strange pare is watching him.
