I Had to Watch
Turage Matau stood alone the Amaja Circle, where Turaga Vakama had just finished his tale. The others had left, leaving him all by himself. He stood and held the green stone, representing him, and frowned grimly to himself. All the troubles he had been through –they had been through- and Makuta still would not stop. The former Toa of Air knew this was true, deep down. He surveyed the circle and allowed a smile to etch across his mask as he noticed that the blue and red stones were closer together than all the others. That trickster Vakama, I'm on to you. He chuckled lightly, but stopped when he realized the black Makuta stone was shaking slightly. The Turaga took a step back and dropped his stone, letting it fall and plant itself in the sand, far from the others.
He watched as dark tentacles stretched out from the black stone and creeped along the ground, snaking their way until they surrounded Matau's stone. Turaga, a voice whispered on the wind, dark and mysterious… but familiar.
"Makuta. You are not good-welcomed here." Matau clutched his sawblade staff and steped back again as the voice continued.
Aw, Matau, the voice slowly crooned in its menacing way. Can't I visit my brother's weak little servant? Surely you didn't think I was defeated, did you?
Matau shook his head vigorously and Makuta laughed. I thought so… now watch as I destroy your people… pathetic weakling.
At this a sudden rage built up in Matau and he shouted, "NO!"
Makuta, now in his full form, yet still a dark purple cloud, turned and spat, "What?"
Matau pointed his staff and shook it at the dark menace and spoke. "I had to watch as the Turaga, one I trusted and obeyed, denied me! I had to watch as my city-home was taken over by you! I had to watch as my crew struggled to fight off Visorak while I was under their stun blasts! I had to watch my Toa-brother's friend was swept into the sea! I had to watch as my own friend turned against me, as we all turned against ourselves! I had to watch as infected Rahi attacked our villagers! I had to watch as Bohrok destroyed my entire village and enslaved me and my people! I had to watch as our Toa was left defenseless against the Bohrok-Kal! I had to watch as Rahkshi threatened to destroy us and killed Jaller! I had to watch as Takanuva fought you! All this time I've had to watch, and do nothing! Now, I say, I'm done watching." With that he swung his staff downward, shattering the crystal and causing Makuta to dissipate into nothingness.
Matau thumped his staff on the ground, leaning on it for balance. The world started to fade black as he heard a Le-Matoran crying, "Turaga Matau! Turaga Matau! Come hurry-quick!" Matau woke up in his bed, in his hut, in Le-Koro. So it was all a horrible-bad dream. He shook his head to clear it and walked outside where Kongu and Takanuva, who had come to check on Le-Koro, were doing flips and handstands and putting on a show. Tamaru, the Matoran who had called him, tugged on his arm. "My act is next! Do you wanna watch?"
The Turaga smiled and nodded his head. "I would love to."
This has been buggin' me, so I decided to post it, since it's just a oneshot, no commitment involved whatsoever! So please R&R, all flames will be used to set fire to a kolhii ball for a game of… FLAMING KOHLII! Thanks, bye!
