I don't remember how we got there. I don't remember much at all, except what brought me to that particular moment.
We were the ideal family, you know, the typical American family. I had a mother, a father, two dogs, and a twin brother. We were the perfect fairy tale from the very beginning. My father, Bradley, was born in California. He came from a wealthy family, and walked into more wealth after he became a very good lawyer. My mother, Miranda, on the other hand, came a very poor family from some nobody town in Vermont, and has done nothing but waitressed since she was 16. That's how my father and her met. He was in Vermont(for God knows what reason), and he walked into Auto's Diner, and the rest was history. She moved across the globe to be with the man she loved, and before anyone knew it, they were married without warning(or invitations) by Christmas of '95. Thanksgiving of '96,Trent(my brother) and me, Dallas, were born.
I remember my childhood being normal. I snuck candy and cookies before dinner even though I wasn't supposed to, I snuck downstairs when I was supposed to be in bed asleep at night, and I knew where they hid the Christmas presents(in the garage). My brother and I were complete opposites. I knew no meant no, he didn't. I knew that when my parents were aggravated, that I wasn't supposed to push it, he did anyway. He was always grounded. He was homeschooled, and I wasn't. We tried putting Trent through regular school, but he had anger issues and got into TOO much trouble. This is when our fairy tale family started falling apart. One night while we were all sleeping, Trent woke up and tried to hurt me, but that's for another time. They didn't know what was wrong with them, but he was put into a psych ward, and he hasn't been home for almost half a year.
We don't know why, but after everything, this was the moment my dad decided to give up on his children and his wife and family, and he left us for a young, beautiful brunette that works with him. My parents are now in the middle of a divorce. This took a big toll on my mother, and an even bigger one on myself. She's back to waitressing after almost 20 years, and it's not doing this lifestyle of high living in LA any justice. Life as I had known it, perfect and a dream, was now shredded into a bunch of mismatched pieces, and I didn't want to live that way. I tried taking my own life, I slit my wrists and laid in the bathtub, and my mom came in to find me unconscious, on the verge of thing that makes it worse, Trent and I both are now in the pediatric unit...at 16 years old, because he is crazy, and I am suicidal, and this is the story of how a life can change for the better, even after it's been ripped to hell.
