Yuki's Beginning
*Beep*
A single flatline had manifested on a heart rate monitor beside a young boy's hospital bed. Doctors and nurses rushed into the room as if on cue and rummaged around trying to save him, but they were too late.
"What's going on?" The young boy asked himself as he floated in an abyss of nothingness. "Where am I? Who am I?" The boy floated about trying to gain a grip on his surroundings.
Then images started to flash before his eyes. A couple crying in front of a doctor. A gravestone being erected. A mob of mourners clothed in night. He tried to stretch his neck to see anything. Anything at all. Nothing. The images faded. He was alone. He was afraid.
"My name is Yato!" A voice proclaimed from somewhere. Was it his voice? No. It was different. "Lingering here, gripping thine true name," the voice, named Yato continued, "I make thou mine servant, and give thine an alias."
What was going on? Who's Yato? What servant?
"Thy name is follower. Thy vessel is sound." Yato carried on. "Thy name is Yuki! Thy vessel be Setsu!"
Yuki. The boy understood. He was Yuki. Then came a light. He was flung into the air in breakneck speeds and found himself in a new abyss, this one of light. He felt a power surge through him as he was swung at a monstrous beast. But he wasn't scared. He sliced through the monster with ease.
After a time he heard his name be called and saw the light once more. He felt himself grow and form once again into the boy he was. He stood there facing a young girl and a young man in a silly tracksuit. "I am Yato. From this day forward I make you my Shinki."
And that's how I begun MY journey with The Yato God.
