Stuck in a Sirius Situation
It's a normal day in Godric's Hollow, with Remus and Lily talking quietly in the sitting room about her fast approaching due date. Lily Potter née Evans is positively glowing, currently dressed in a flowing muggle sundress with her bare feet propped up on the sofa. Remus, seated in the plush chair nearest to her, was dressed in muggle jeans, a collared shirt, and trainers. Remus stares fondly as Lily rubs her stomach.
"How are you Lily? Would you like me to get you anything?" Remus asks for the third time. Lily just smiles softly. Sirius, Remus, and James have been on edge ever since the healer told them she's 'due any day now'.
"Remus I understand you want to be helpful, but honestly I'm okay. And besides if I need anything I could always call one of the house elves. Or even one of those idiots upstairs." Lily and Remus share a soft laugh, when they hear a loud noise from upstairs. Remus jumps up, slightly alarmed with his wand ready, while Lily just rolls her eyes. "James Potter! What are you and Sirius doing to my nursery!"
"It wasn't me!" James shouts, as he and Sirius descend the stairs.
"I don't see why you guys got a muggle crib anyway. Why couldn't you get an enchanted one like normal people?" Sirius says, laying on the floor, feigning exhaustion.
"Because I wanted a muggle crib." Lily says softly, sipping her tea.
"But you don't have to help put it up." Sirius pouts, even though he'll deny it to his grave. "Muggle contraptions are ridiculously difficult, how do they survive without magic?" Remus, Lily and James just shake their heads, used to his antics.
"Would it make you feel better if I let you hang up the snitch mobile that you bought for him?" Lily asks, hiding her smile behind her cup.
"Really?!" Sirius sits up excitedly, and when she nodded he gets up to hug her. When he lets go, he kneels down to to belly. "You hear that Prongslet? You're gonna know about Quidditch before you grow your first tooth. I bet you're going to be a seeker just like your pops, but hopefully you won't get your dad's ugly mug."
James leans over from his position next to Lily and hits Sirius. "You prat."
Lily and Remus smile at the pair, and Lily remembers something. "Oh James, you still have to go to the store to get the rest of the baby stuff."
"But..I don't.." James started, but Remus jumped in.
"I can help, I know what to get." When James gives him a strange look, he explains, "What do you think we've been doing all day? Staring at the fireplace?"
James nodded slightly, and then turns to Sirius. "Okay Padfoot. You're on Lily watch."
Lily rolls her eyes. "Right because I'M the one that needs watched."
"Good point. Lily you're on Sirius watch." James smirks slightly kissing Lily on her cheek, "We won't be gone long, love. Behave Pads." Finally James and Remus leaves out the front door, and Sirius.
"Well! It's just you, me and my favorite godson." Sirius says happily rubbing Lily's tummy.
"He's your only godson." Lily says smiling, "Wimsy." She calls softly. A small house elf, wearing a pillowcase with the Potter crest on it pops into the room.
"What can Wimsy bes doing for you Madam Potter?" The house elf asks patiently.
"Would you make us a light lunch, please?" Lily asks politely. Wimsy nods enthusiastically, before popping out to make the lunch. Not even a minute later, there were light sandwiches and pumpkin juice on the table in front of them. For the next 20 minutes, the two of them spent time talking about Sirius' job as an Auror, the baby, and listening to Sirius declare that their baby will be a Gryffindor. A minute later, a look passes over Lily's face and it's gone just as fast as it comes. Lily stands up slowly, and walks towards the hallway. Sirius looks down and sees what he thinks is a pumpkin juice spill, so he doesn't think casting a cleaning charm. Sirius looks up to see a slight wince of pain pass over her face, so he stands quickly and rushes over to her.
"Are you okay? Do you need to sit down? What's wrong?" Sirius continues to spout off questions, until Lily grips his hand really hard.
"Sirius. We need the healer."
"Why?! What's wrong with the baby?!" Sirius starts to panic, but she's quick to calm him down.
"Nothing is wrong. I just need to get to the healer because my water broke." It takes a minute to process, but luckily they explained that phrase to him. Slowly, you can see the look of realization pass over his face, followed by panic.
"What?! What do I do?! Towels! I'll get towels!" Sirius begins running around, looking for towels, then remembers something. "Wait! You're not having a home birth! We need a to-go bag!"
Sirius runs upstairs, looking for clothes for her, the baby, and James, while unknowingly to him, Lily takes the pre-packed bag from Wimsy and stands near the front door. She listens to him rummaging around upstairs, before finally calling out to him. "Sirius let's-"
"I CAN'T BLOODY FIND IT! WHERE'S YOUR TOOTHBRUSH?! WHERE'S PRONGS' TOOTHBRUSH?! WHERE'S THE BABY'S TOOTHBRUSH?!" Sirius yells, panic rising higher than it already was.
Even though he can't see her, Lily is smirking by the door. "He's a baby Siri, he won't have any teeth yet."
"RIGHT! YOU'RE RIGHT!" Sirius yells stumbling down the stairs. He begins to pace and murmur to himself in front of Lily. She reaches into the front pocket of the bag and passes him a calming draught. He gulps it down with a grimace, sits on the last step, and tugs on his hair gently. "I'm not ready to be a father!"
"This isn't your baby." Lily smiles, despite going thru labor pains. Sirius looks up, and rolls his eyes.
"This is all of our baby, Lily."
Lily just smiles, "Well this baby is coming sooner rather than later, so let's GO!" She tosses the bag to Sirius and starts out the door.
"You had this the whole time?!" Sirius says, shocked. "And you didn't say anything?!"
"You didn't give me a chance to, plus it was quite funny to see you panic like that."
A couple hours later brought on excitement, nervousness, a broken hand, and a vial of Skele-gro. Finally, a strong cry of a baby fills the room. He's cleaned up, and handed to the exhausted family. There he is, their precious boy, born on July 31st, 1980. With the Potter hair, and his mother's stunning green eyes, they all looked welcome the newest heir to the Potter fortune: Harry James Potter.
