"You hate someone whom you really wish to love, but whom you cannot love."

-Sri Chinmoy

When they first met, he was 8 and she was 6. First he called her ugly and then he pushed her. The next time they saw each other was her first day at Hogwarts. He made fun of her in front of all the Slytherin's and then he called her "itty-bitty Greengrass" for years. They next time they saw each other out of school, her family was at his house. They were informed that they were betrothed. She was in her third year and he was in his fifth.

It was the day before their wedding that her whole world came crashing down around her. She didn't love him and he didn't love her. If anything, they hated each other.

When she walked down the aisle, her father at her side, he watched with cold, hard steely eyes. When the minister announced that he could kiss the bride, they both leant forward, his stony hard lips hit her cold soft ones. After, at the reception, they stood side by side, their cold fingers tangled together loosely as cameras flashed and clapping merged with the background as they smiled big, forced smiles. When they danced the first dance, he barely held her, his hand light on her waist, twirling her around the dance floor. They didn't smile through the whole ordeal.

That night, in their marriage bed; they slept on the edges of bed, on opposite sides, facing away from each other. His hands clenched underneath his head as she wrapped her arms around herself, holding herself together, the tears threatening to spill. She was 18 and he was 20.

She found out she was pregnant just a year later. She didn't tell Draco, she waited weeks, waiting for the perfect moment. But he was always gone; physically or mentally. But the anxiousness suffocated her, forcing her to break down and just cry. A marriage of hatred and lies had wounded her deep and it was revealed at that moment. It left her vulnerable, just the right moment for the snake to slither in and worsen it. He eventually found her in an abandoned corridor.

When Scorpius was born, she regretted it immediately. That innocent child didn't deserve a family made up of parents that were cheaters, liars and drunks. But as he grew, they both tried harder to learn to love each other. When they were around him, they held hands and teased each other like lovers do. Giving off the illusion of two perfectly in love people. But if others looked deeper, peered closely ripped them open; they would see their insides deprived of the thing they didn't have, love.

So naturally, they sought it in other things. They had their long list of affairs and lies. They always pretended that those things had never happened. That he hadn't almost drunken himself to death; that she hadn't cheated with one of his friends. When he met his mistresses and she slept in an empty bed alone at night, they still pretended everything was perfect.

She hadn't expected to sunken to this level of misery at the age of 20. But because of 2 men, Death Eaters, that were so stuck on keeping their bloodlines pure, and a handshake; she was stuck with a man that she hated and who hated her, for the rest of her life. Doomed into an enternity.
