The Familiar Dragon
The crowd stilled as Harry walked into the arena, opposite the massive bulk of the Hungarian Horntail sitting protectively near her eggs. As he approached the towering dragon, the crowd took a great breath as the Horntail reared it's head, however, in contrast to the look of abject terror that the crowed expected to see on Harry's face, he seemed slightly confused and puzzled until, still looking at the dragon, he suddenly grinned and strode purposely forward. The crowd looked on in horror as the dragon lowered it's head as he approached, but instead of roasting him alive, it allowed him to get within arms reach of it's vast head. He slowly reached out a hand and started petting the dragons snout, the dragon closed it's eyes in what seemed to be contentment and, to the complete shock of everyone in the crowd, began to emit a noise that sounded suspiciously like purring. Harry stopped stroking the dragon and walked to the side, towards the clutch of large eggs and picked up the golden egg from within the midst of the other granite grey ones. As he turned to exit the arena, Dumbledore spoke up from the judges table,
"Harry, what exactly did you do?"
Harry sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck and answered, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you"
"We need to know to be able to judge you" the curiosity in Dumbledore's twinkling eyes made him relent.
"Well, I sort of formed a familiar bond with the Dragon..." he trailed off gesturing behind him at the the Horntail. "Oh, one more thing." Harry turned back to the huge Horntail, who was still chained to the back of the arena.
He walked over to the chain and tapped it with his wand near where it was secured to the ground. He picked up the now untethered chain and began leading the very docile dragon toward the medical tent where he had to get checked out before receiving his score, leaving more than a few dumbstruck faces behind.
As he walked through the tent flat he saw the other Champions sitting on cots, Krum had his left leg and part of his side bandaged up, Fleur was sporting singed and bloody robes although lacked serious injury and Cedric was sitting up with an orange paste over half of his face. All of them were giving him odd looks as he strode into the tent with the chain in one hand, though only Cedric spoke,
"What's with the chain?" the confusion in his voice was evident.
"Just my familiar, nothing to worry about" replied Harry nonchalantly.
The questioning would have stopped there, had a large spiked head with a chained collar not nudged aside the tent flap and snaked inside.
"I thought I told you to wait outside" he said calmly to the dragon.
He turned back to the Champions to see shocked faces. Fleur and Krum's faces had become deathly pale, as had the half of Cedric's not covered in orange goop.
"Do I have something on my face" he asked innocently, inwardly smirking.
