Author's Note: This just came to me and I couldn't resist! Enjoy! :)
It was an odd request to come from someone who had already graduated high school. Was the McKinley High marching band available at this time and would they mind playing an arrangement of a Beatles' classic?
Of course, they remembered Kurt Hummel; he'd never been one to blend into the background. He wanted their help in serenading his boyfriend. Well, he didn't use the word "boyfriend". He rambled on about how he wasn't quite sure about where they stood before realising that the information wasn't particularly relevant at this time.
They quickly agreed, thinking that it would be fun and a rather sweet thing to do. Plus it would be in the school courtyard and a reminder to the students of McKinley that they had a marching band. For anyone who preferred musical instruments to the Glee Club's singing. Seriously, that club got a disproportionate amount of attention!
They ran through the number at the next meeting with Kurt singing; talked through the choreography they would execute; and arranged a signal for the band to appear.
Near the end of the meeting, after Kurt had left, there was a knock at the door and one Blaine Anderson entered nervously. They recognised him from the two numbers he'd done in the courtyard before - it was becoming a start-of-the-school-year tradition for him to serenade his boyfriend. He asked the group if they would be willing to help him out the day after next. i.e. when Kurt had arranged to serenade him!
He made a big romantic speech that most of the band tuned out of, although a few of the girls thought that if he said something of that sort to Kurt then the pair would definitely get back together. The band leader turned to the group and raised one eyebrow, the question evident. Most members nodded and there were quite a few mischievous smirks. He turned back and informed Blaine that they would be happy to and was there anything in particular he'd like them to play?
Blaine beamed and thanked them profusely, naming another Beatles' classic that happened to already be in their repertoire. Again, they ran through the number to get a feeling for the timing; discussed a signal; and the choreography (the same as they'd arranged for Kurt, just to keep things simple). He left once they'd arranged everything. The band waited until he was out of earshot before grinning at one another and starting to laugh.
Those two!
