If you want my advice giving the cold shoulder isn't always a bad thing-the Book of the Masons chapter 2 page 1

Dina walked down the street to the spot she always came to in the early morning. The familiar noises of birdsong, the wind, dogs barking to end the world, and the complete lack of people to disturb her peace. Starting the day off with such a peaceful moment such as this was a blessing and she loved it. However, one thing was different today. "You're up early." A old creaky voice said from a open door store, which Dina could never remember being there. It stank of something sketchy. "You have a problem with that?" Dina said, slightly irate that her moment of blissful peace had been disturbed by this crinkled leaf of an old man.

"none at all, my dear. In fact, it makes things much easier. Especially since it's you." The old man said, bring out five pedestals two, one black as ink and melting into a puddle and the other liquids like the other one, but standing upright by some strange sleight of hand, empty and three containing items. From left to right they were; a piece of reptile skin on a green pedestal, a piece of useless chain on a purple pedestal, and a sharp wing and tooth on a ice blue pedestal. "Choose one pedestal. There is no price for you, no matter which one you choose." Dina reached out and grabbed the ice blue pedestal immediately. The other two items held little or no interest to her, and from the weirdness of this event, she guessed there was a chance she could get magic powers and if the pedestals were color coded, then she should get ice powers. The old man looked up at her, his human face horribly changed. A beetling brow, two bulbous eyes, a ridiculously long red nose, and two sharp fangs stared back at her. The thing that couldn't have been a man smiled, baring a mouth full of fangs as he pushed her back, showing extremely deceptive power for his size. He said some gibberish words as Dina fell back, falling into a new world.
