"Damn it!" Murdock rubbed his head puzzled. He leant against the bar. Face sat next to him on a barstool, grinning.
BA chalked his pool cue, blowing the top of the cue, and walked around the pool table shaking his head, giggling. Hannibal watched the pair of them and also chuckled.
"Murdock, he'll get you every time," Hannibal said, leaning across the pool table to take his shot.
"What are they doing?" Amy looked up from her journal and watched the two men. Murdock seemed frustrated. Face seemed, with his smug smile, happy aggravating him.
"Face is practising his latest tricks on the fool," BA confirmed, before taking his shot at the pool table. There was a clatter as the white ball hit a pack of colours.
"Oh," Amy nodded and went back to making notes in her journal.
"Nice, BA," Hannibal said.
"Okay, one more, Murdock, and that's it." Face started to get the barman's attention.
"I'm going to win this one, Faceman. I can feel it."
The barman lined up five shot glasses and five larger glasses in front of them and started to fill them with clear liquid.
"Now usually, Murdock, this would be liquor. Whiskey or something, in the shot glasses and beer in the larger ones. But as we both may have to take a turn driving the van." Face raised an eyebrow. "Each glass is filled with water."
"Uh, huh." Murdock nodded and watched as Face placed the smaller shot glasses in front of him, lining them up in a row. He then lined up the larger glasses.
"Twenty bucks says, I can drink my five glasses before you." Face pointed to the larger glasses.
"Impossible!" Murdock laughed. "Now this I am going to win."
"Uh, uh!" Face tapped Murdock's hand as he tried to reach for a glass. "There's one rule. You cannot touch your opponent's glasses."
Murdock laughed again and then frowned. Thinking more about it
"Twenty bucks, you say?"
Face nodded.
Murdock nodded, happy that he understood.
"Okay on the count of three." Face said. They both lifted their first glass. "One, two, three."
Each started to drink from their glass. Murdock didn't rush, he didn't have to, it was practically down in one gulp. Face took longer, seeming far too relaxed.
Murdock laughed as he placed the first empty glass on the bar and reached for his second glass. Face finished his glass of water and turned the glass upside down and placed it over the last of Murdock's shot glasses, still full with water.
Murdock's mouth fell open. Face grinned, and started to drink from the second glass, more slowly.
"That'll be twenty bucks, Murdock."
From across the bar, Hannibal could be heard chuckling. Murdock looked across towards him. BA stood giggling. Amy just rolled her eyes.
"I can't believe you fell for another one of his tricks, Captain."
