Dream of Fates
The day has come. Bloodshed is inevitable.
Two figures stand atop the Tokyo Tower with cloaks billowing about them. The purple sky and the sunset coloring it are Earth's farewell to the individuals before her.
"Well, it's time... Kamui."
The taller of the two steps forward, sword in hand. The other slowly lifts his head.
"So it is... Fuuma."
Blue crystalline eyes meet warm molten amber, and for minutes they only look at each other. Staring, searching, beholding. Searching through the other's eyes, looking for emotions and wishes; anything that brings them to closer understanding. Beholding what marvelous eyes they both have, all the while wishing that they didn't have to extinguish the light that those precious orbs held.
The elder breaks the eye contact. Looking down, a small sigh escapes. "You still have yet to discover your wish..." He looks up with a small smile. "I was hoping you'd have realized it by now."
"There are many things I don't know, Fuuma." it is the other's turn to look down wearily. "I didn't know the consequences of my choice, I don't know how to create a kekkai, and..." he looks sadder still as he says,
"I don't know if I can save the world."
The opposing star sighs once more, as if he had expected this.
"But... what I do know..." The dragon continues, as he gazes into his twin's eyes, more firm than ever, "Is that I'll bring you back. Even if it's impossible..." he pauses, looking down once more. "Even if it isn't my real wish."
"That's for you to decide, Kamui," the other continues. "The fate of the world rests in your hands. Will you choose a different path than the one destiny has laid out for you? Or..." a small smirk crosses his lips, "Or will you be just another pawn of destiny, like everyone else?"
"That's what we're here to find out, isn't it?"
'Fuuma' looks up, mild shock on his face. Then it curves into a smile, "I suppose it is."
Kamui's hand grips firmly on the Shinken.
The two glance at each other. The other Kamui speaks, "Then... best of luck to you... Kamui"
Kamui embraces himself, as both figures jump high in the air, engaging in the battle of the Earth's grand finale.
AN:
Hello Fanfiction world! :D This is my first story in X/1999, and my first on FFnet. However, this story is one of many to come... ehehehe. I know in the manga X/1999 the beginning of the final battle has already happened, the dragons are on hiatus in the climax of the battle, and there were more people there than just Kamui and Fuuma. But hey! That's what fanfiction is for.
Actually, this story is named "Dream of Fates" because it was really based on a dream I had. Not bad, imagination.
This was sort of like a one-shot, I don't have any current intention of continuing it. What did you think? Any sort of review is helpful. The longer, the better!
'Till next time,
Raven Amethyst
