Adam sat on the hood of his tri-colored car. His arms wrapped around himself and his chin resting atop his knees. He sighed as he stared off into the distance of green flat lands. Human, that is what he was prickle beneath his skin, the whispers into his ears, and the connection to something powerful and alive, was gone. He missed Cabeswater, and without it his was just human - utterly and undeniably human.

Adam didn't hear Ronan until the car groaned and shifted to the extra weight that now sat next to him. But, he just continued to stare off into the empty flat horizon. They sat in taciturnity. When Ronan realized Adam wasn't going to say anything he broke the silence, "No need to be morbid, Parish."

Adam sighed a long breath before speaking, "Can you feel it?"

"No."

"Me neither."

Ronan stared at Adam. Not with pity or sadness, but with understanding. Ronan missed Cabeswater too. He felt it whisk away as it gave Gansey its remaining life. "There's nothing left. I feel empty, and alone." Silence once again fell between them.

"Te enim mihi," Ronan whispered. Adam halfed smiled and finally turned to look at Ronan. Their gaze steadly holding each others for a long breath, and in that moment there was just Adam and Ronan, Ronan and just Adam.

Then Adam reached for his hand, and Ronan put Adam's fingers to his mouth.
