The cats sat around the sparkling pool of water. The geyser in the centre of the pool creating a soft mist that dampened the motionless cats. Suddenly one of the cats stood and slid into the water. Her pelt quickly became soaked as she made her way closer to the geyser. She stopped directly in front of the geyser and lifted her head, ignoring the water that fell on her eyes. She quietly spoke a prayer to an invisible being and then dipped her head. For a moment an erie silence fell over the pool, not even the crashing water was making a noise. Then all of a sudden there was a bright flash that blinded everyone. When the light dimmed and the cats around the pool regained sight the she-cat was gone. Shocked gasps began to echo around the pool as cats realized the cat was missing. "It's an omen!" One cat yowled. The cats began to murmur worriedly to each other in heated debate. Then one cat noticed something floating in the water. "Quiet, look!" He called pointing with his tail. The other cats immediately stopped talking when they seen what the tom had pointed out. "Garden, Yew, help me pull her out!" The tom mewed commandingly. "Right away Frieze." They replied, quickly rushing to his side. Then the three cats splashed into the pool and took a hold of the she-cat, quickly pulling her out of the water. "Is she breathing?" asked Yew. Garden pressed her ear to the cats chest and nodded. "Yes. She's just unconscious." Frieze bent down to the she-cats ear. "Forest, wake up." he murmured softly. Forest slowly opened her eyes and looked around, her eyes full fear. "Forest, look at me. What happened?" Forest looked blankly at him for a moment then whispered, "The tribe will flourish in a glorious light, then whither in a blinding darkness." Her eyes filled with tears and she looked at Garden. "The leaf that settles on the rough..." Her words trailed away and she looked up blankly at the sky. Frieze watched in despair as her flank stopped moving. "Forest? No..." He closed his eyes in emotional pain. Yew laid his tail lightly on Friezes' shoulder. "You have to tell everyone what she said." Frieze nodded slowly and lifted his head toward the crowd of cats. "A time of great darkness is coming. We must prepare for the worst. I will speak with my senior cats to determine the rest." With that the he turned towards a large rocky wall and padded towards it. A few cats followed him. The rest of the cats turned and padded to their nests. A Time of darkness will follow a time of tranquility...
